The new trimmer is here :)

By | December 2, 2012

Hi there

If you’ve been hanging out to order the new trimmer – your wait is over :).  The new trimmer has arrived and its great.  Check out all the great specs here.

Features of the All-New Stampin’ Trimmer Item number: 129722 $59.95

  • An extra-wide 6-1/4″ cutting base and an extended 14-1/2″ ruler.
  • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4″ (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
  • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
  • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
  • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
  • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16″ and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
  • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won’t wear off.
  • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12″ (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles and you don’t have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you’re not using them.
  • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
  • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you’re cutting.
  • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under the base which holds scoring and cutting tools.
  • And lots more features as well!

The best thing I like is the extra-wide cutting base – I don’t have to bring the side arm out as often.

I will be placing my final Deember order this week – Thursday 6 December – so email me if you would like one ordered or any other supplies to get you through the Christmas/New Year period.

Try Stampin on Tuesday # 94

By | November 28, 2012

Hi there

It’s that time of the week again for a new sketch over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

Friends of ours have just had their first baby so this layout was perfect to accommodate the stamp I wanted to use.

It’s such a cute stamp to use for baby cards.  It’s hard to tell from the photo but I used Crystal Effects on the ducks to make them ‘pop’ off the card.
Supplies:
Stamp – Embellished Events
Card Stock – Marina Mist, Real Red, Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Markers – Summer Starfruit, Real Red, Midnight Muse, Marina Mist
Other – Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Midnight Muse Satin Ribbon, Crystal Effects
Don’t forget to have a go at this weeks challenge.
Well I’d better get ready for work – have a great day

One Sheet Wonder Cards and Gift Box

By | November 25, 2012

Hi there

It has been a beautiful weekend here in Auckland – even got my first bit of sun.  Yesterday we attended the wedding of my upline Jacque.  It was such a lovely wedding and she just looked gorgeous.  Congratulations Rob and Jacque.

I found this project on Elaine Schader’s blog awhile ago and just loved it so I recreated it with a few changes to fit out A5 cards and slightly bigger envelopes.  It uses a one sheet wonder technique to make the cards and decorate the front of the box.  The box holds 4 cards and the envelopes.

First of all I stamped an A4 sheet of Whisper White card then cut it up into 6 different sizes.  I’ve used the smallest stamp as an embellishment on some of the cards and the front of the box.  The colour combo is straight from the colour coach using Summer Starfruit as the base.
Here are close ups of the cards:

Supplies:
Stamp – Lacy and Lovely, Made for You
Card Stock – Baja Breeze, Elegant Eggplant, Summer Starfruit
Ink – Baja Breeze, Elegant Eggplant, Summer Starfruit
Other – Large Oval, Scallop Oval, 1″ Circle, 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle, Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Summer Starfruit Satin Ribbon, Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, 1/8″ Mini Brads, Dimensionals

Check back tomorrow for a masculine set using the same technique.

Have a great evening

Crafters Anonymous –

By | November 22, 2012

Hi there

On Monday night I was finally able to join the girls over at Crafters Anonymous.  We had fun making Christmas crackers – now to work out what to put inside and make more for our family Christmas.  The cracker is a decent size and could hold all sorts of things.  Thanks to Delys for the original design.

Supplies:
Stamp – Perfect Punches
Card Stock – Cherry Cobbler
DSP – Be of Good Cheer
Other – Gumball Green ribbon

Well lunchtime is over and it’s back to work.
Have a good rest of your day.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #93

By | November 21, 2012

Hi there

As soon as I saw this week’s sketch I knew exactly what I’d do.  I had one more stamp set that hadn’t seen ink and it fitted perfectly (well I think so).

It’s called Summer Silhouettes and it’s a two step set.  This allowed me to heat emboss the two parts of the flower in different colours.  Here in NZ we have a tree called the Pohutukawa and it has a beautiful red flower and comes out at Christmas time.  It’s often called the New Zealand Christmas Tree and this stamp reminds me of it.

Instead of using ribbon I’ve stamped the border stamp with Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder then cut around the design – another way to use your stamps.  I haven’t put a sentiment on it yet as I’m not sure what I’ll use it for.

Supplies:
Stamp – Summer Silhouettes
Card Stock – Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Other – Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler and Gumball Green Embossing Powder, Apothecary Framelits

Pop on over to Try Stampin on Tuesday and give this sketch a go – we’d love you to join us.

Have a great day – the sun is shining

Stampin Fun and Friends

By | November 20, 2012

Hi there

Here are some more recreations from projects in the current round of Stampin Fun and Friends.

The first one is based on Tanya Bell’s  project.  I didn’t have the stamp set she used but thought this worked really well.  I can see more of these types of cards being created.

Supplies:
Stamp – Delightful Decorations
Card Stock – Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink – Cherry Cobbler
Other – Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine

The next card set is based on  Kristen Conant’s project.  I got four out of an A4 sheet of card stock.  I’m using these for this month’s ‘thank you’ cards for my customers.

Supplies:
Stamp – Embellished Events
Card Stock – Going Grey (retired), Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Ink – Gumball Green
DSP – Twitterpatted

Other – Framelits Labels

Don’t forget to check back tomorrow morning for this week’s sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday

See you later

Inlaid Embossing Technique

By | November 18, 2012

Hi there

I hope your weekend has gone well and that you have managed to squeeze in some crafting time.  I have but can’t show you my creations till later in the week 🙂

Last week my youngest nephew turned 14 – he may be the youngest but he’s on his way to being the tallest.  He’s already 6ft tall!  He’s really into rugby but I don’t have any rugby stamps so I used one of my favourite techniques – inlaid embossing – which is great for masculine cards.

I taught this card at a recent workshop.  It’s a great way to use up all the scraps we seem to accumulate and now that we have so many fabulous embossing folders no two look alike.
My nephew wanted money to go clothes shopping so I made a matching voucher holder.
Supplies:
Stamp – Made for You
Card Stock – Brights, Subtles and Night of Navy
Punches – a variety of circles
Other – Argyle Embossing Folder

Don’t forget to check back on Wednesday morning for the next sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday

Two Challenges in One

By | November 17, 2012

Hi there

It’s a lovely wet day here in Auckland – great crafting weather 🙂

Over at Stampin Fun and Firends CherylAnn has set another challenge – this time to use a big snowflake on a card or 3D project.  I wasn’t going to enter as I don’t own any snowflake dies or stamps then remembered I still had Season of Joy which has a snowflake stamp (it’s not big but it will have to do).  So then I was trying to think what type of layout to use so I checked out some challenge sites.  I love this sketch from Mojo Monday and my card came together really quickly – would have been quicker if I’d looked in the rubbish bin first when trying to find my Bigshot multipurpose platform!!

Here’s a close up showing the bling on the snowflakes:
For the top snowflake I stamped it first with VersaMark then Marina Mist ink then added Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder – for the other one I just added Dazzling Diamonds after I’d embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.
Supplies:
Stamp – Season of Joy (retired)
Card Stock – Whisper White, Marina Mist, Real Red
Ink – Marina Mist, Real Red
Other – Iridescent Ice, Clear Embossing Powder, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Scallop Trim Punch, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Dazzling Diamonds, Pear Pizzaz Ribbon (retired)

Keep dry and have a great rest of the weekend.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #92

By | November 14, 2012

Hi there

I have now become part of the design team over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.  I am very excited about this new opportunity.  Each week a new sketch is posted and the challenge is on to recreate a card and upload it to the site.  I have participated in the past and it’s lots of fun.  So check here every Wednesday to see what the new sketch is.

This weeks sketch has a piggyback with it – incorporate something red on your card

and here’s my creation

I created this card for my friends MIL who had a birthday the other day.  When I saw the piggyback was to include red I knew straight away I’d use the Glimmer Brad and then it all came together from there.  I’ve used the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder for some texture at the bottom that also carries the stripped theme from the ribbon.  And here is the inside of the card:

Supplies:
Stamp – Blooming with Kindness
Card Stock – Basic Black, Basic Gray, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink – Real Red
Other – Woodgrain Embossing Folder, 1/2″ Striped Satin Ribbon, Brights Glimmer Brad

Well now it’s your turn to recreate.  Click here to upload your creation.

Have a great day.

Freshly Made Sketches

By | November 12, 2012

Hi there

I love the stamp set I Dig You and it’s great for boys cards.  My friends son is turning 4 this week so out it came again.

I’ve used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to help me out.  None of my circle punches were big enough to fit the image so I’ve used my newly purchased Window Frames Collection Framelits.  I’ve re-stamped the ‘arms’ of the excavator and attached them with a brad to give a 3D effect.
Supplies:
Stamp – I Dig You
Card Stock – Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink – Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso
DSP – Brights Designer Series Paper Stacks
Other – Window Frames Collection Framelits, Word Window and Modern Label Punches, 1/8″ mini brads, Dimensionals
Have a great evening

Pennant Parade and builder punch

By | November 11, 2012

Hi there

I have been having fun making cards using the Pennant Parade stamp set and matching builder punch.  I’ve used this set at my latest workshops for Christmas cards but have also made some other styles showcasing the versatility of this set.  At only $36.95 for the clear set and $35.95 for the punch I think it’s a good buy.  These are not my own designs (cased most from Google) but I have changed bits to suit what I had.

Stampin Fun and Friends

By | November 6, 2012

Hi there

Well another session of Stampin Fun and Friends has begun which means it’s time to recreate some projects.  The below cards use the masking technique in two different ways – ripping a piece of copy paper to create an edge and creating a negative using a circle punch – which one is your favourite?  I know which one is mine.

Supplies:
Stamps – French Foliage, En Francis, Word Play
Card Stock – Primrose Petal, Whisper White
Ink – Primrose Petal, Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Sahara Sand
Other – scrap of copy paper, 2 3/4″ circle punch, 3/4″ circle punch, sponge

In yesterday’s post I asked which was your favourite card – the answer ‘the one using French Foliage’ – I tend to agree.  This stamp set is so versatile.

Have a great evening
