May Birthday Cards

By | May 31, 2016

Hi there

May has been a busy month for birthdays – I think I had over 20 cards to send out.  Here are the last of them.

Our neighbours son turned 6 and so I made him this Spinner/Shaker card – he was suitable impressed with it.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Number of Years, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card Stock – Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White
DSP – Cherry On Top Stack
Ink – Bermuda Bay
Other – Word Window Punch, Star Framelits, Large Numbers Framelits, Window Sheet, Metallic Sequin Assortment, Foam Adhesive Strips

The next two cards are the same design as I taught for my April class but have a different sentiment

The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings which is fast becoming a favourite set for me.

My final card for tonight is one I CASED from Sam Donald (aka Pootles) and uses a number of products that are retiring.

I will be sad to say ‘goodbye’ to the Fancy Foil Vellum – I have enjoyed using it on my projects.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Petite Pairs
Card Stock – Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Ink – Melon Mambo
Other – Fancy Foil Vellum, Washi Label Punch, Brights Candy Dots, Triple Banner Punch, 1/8″ Silver Ribbon
I’m looking forward to showing you some projects using the new In Colors and new products from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue so don’t forget to check back tomorrow.

Envelope Punch Board

By | May 30, 2016

Hi there

A couple of weekends ago I held an Envelope Punch Board (EPB) class where I taught 5 projects – and none of them were an envelope.  As you may know I love making 3D projects and the EPB is great for these.  Another thing I like is Whittakers Chocolate and these boxes are perfect for that 🙂  The first three projects all contain Whittakers Mini Slabs

 Bag in a Box

 Basic Box
Basic Box – tied on top
Match Box containing a big Peanut Slab
The last project is a note card holder and is one I designed to fit out Notecards and Envelopes.  This is a great way to give away a set of cards as a gift.

The ladies all enjoyed the class.  If you would like to make these projects get a group of friends together and I’ll hold another class.

May Card Class Projects

By | May 29, 2016

Hi there

Well it’s almost the end of May and winter is just around the corner.  I’m not much of a fan of winter but I do enjoy the nice not meals that come with the cooler months.

Here are the cards we made at card class this month.  I had a request for an engagement card so used the Bloomin Love suite for this.  I made two samples one in Watermelon Wonder and one in Cucumber Crush and gave them two sentiment options.

To create this card we cut out the ‘heart’ shape with the Thinlit die then dry embossed the remainder of the card front.  To the card base we adhered the coloured piece which is from Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP, adhered the embossed card front with dimensionals then carefully placed the die cut heart back into its slot.  The filigree heart is adhered directly to the coloured paper and is recessed.
The final touch is to add some flowers and rhinestones to the heart.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Bloomin’ Love
Card Stock – Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White
DSP – Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP
Ink – Watermelon Wonder/Cucumber Crush, Tip Top Taupe
Other – Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Die, Large Numbers Framelits Die, Rhinestones, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Dimensionals
The second card uses the Drapery Fold technique.  This is a great way to use up DSP which we all seem to have and not want to cut into!  The first card is the one the ladies made and the other two are samples which showcase the technique in a landscape orientation.

Do you recognise the ribbon I’ve used here?  It’s the 5/8″ White Organza Ribbon.  To get my Watermelon Wonder colour I used a sponge and ink to change the colour 🙂

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Cottage Greetings
Card Stock – Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White
DSP – Birthday Bouquet
Ink – Mossy Meadow, Watermelon Wonder
Other – Simple Scored, White Organza Ribbon, Calypso Coral Thick Bakers Twine

Pun Intended – Snappy Birthday

By | May 26, 2016

Hi there

Today you get a ‘sneak peek’ at some of the new In Colours and one of the Hostess sets from the upcoming 2016-2017 Catalogue.

Not only is today my birthday but it’s also my husband Phil’s birthday.  One of his hobbies is photography so when I got the Hostess set ‘Pun Intended’ I knew I had to use it for his card.  My card was inspired by a card Delys Cram had on display at OnStage – thanks Delys 🙂

Phil’s birthday is a special one this year – the big ’60’ 🙂  I didn’t really want the number all over the front so added it to the inside.

We normally spend our birthday together – either on holiday or just having the day off work but this year Phil is at Cookery School so couldn’t take the day off so off to work I went – first time working my birthday in 15 years!  I have been very spoilt with a lovely selection of cards which I will show you over the coming days – thank you everyone for making my day special.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Pun Intended, Number of Years
Card Stock – Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Whisper White
Ink – Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach, Momento Black
Other – Large Numers Framelits, Dimensionals

Butterfly Basics Sympathy Card

By | May 25, 2016

Hi there

Sympathy cards are never easy to make but this one came together nicely.  I CASED one of my previous cards and just changed the colour scheme.

This was for my neighbour who lost her grandmother at the beginning of the month.  She had been very close to her grandmother and I wanted to let her know I was thinking of her at this time.  It’s so nice to be able to personalise a sympathy card.

For the sentiment I only wanted part of the stamp so used my markers to ‘ink’ up the portion I needed.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Butterfly Basics, Thoughts and Prayers
Card Stock – Rose Red, Very Vanilla
Ink – Rose Red, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake
Other – Butterflies Thinlits, Basic Pearls

Well tomorrow is a big day in our house – birthdays all around – and one is a ‘big 0’. No not me 🙂  Check back tomorrow to see the card I made for Phil.

Butterfly Punch Cards

By | May 24, 2016

Hi there

I needed some ‘congratulations’ cards earlier this month and came across a card by Mary Fish which I just had to CASE.  I loved the design so much that I also made a ‘Happy Birthday’ one.  I was recently introduced to the Cottage Greetings stamp set – I LOVE the font and have been using this set heaps for my May creations.

To create my ‘scallop’ edge I used the Scallop Square Framelit cutting it with just a scrap of the Melon Mambo – clever idea shared by Mary Fish.

I altered the measurements for the Birthday card as the greeting covered two lines.  I also made the Basic Black piece slightly higher as well.

Unfortunately the It’s My Party Enamel Dots will be retiring at the end of the month but they worked perfectly for this card – I love the bright colours.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Cottage Greetings
Card Stock – Thick Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron and Basic Black
Ink – Momento Black
Other – Square Framelits, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, It’s My Party Enamel Dots

Going Places Final Call

By | May 22, 2016

Hi there

May is a very popular month for birthdays for me – I think at last count I had 20 cards to make.  I still need to make one very important card by Thursday 🙂

The Going Places paper stack is retiring at the end of the month.  It’s been great for masculine cards.  I’m coming to the end of my stack and don’t have many full sheets left so I created four cards in the below style with the bits I had.  I did make sure I had four sheets for my boxes which of course got filled with Whittakers Chocolates 🙂

I made two with Lost Lagoon bases and two with Hello Honey bases.  I will be sad saying ‘goodbye’ to Lost Lagoon.  Which In Color will you miss the most?

Supplies:
Stamp Set  – Endless Birthday Wishes
Card Stock – Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Very Vanilla
DSP – Going Places
Ink – Lost Lagoon
Other – Envelope Punch Board, Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow Satin Ribbon (retired)

Awesomely Artistic

By | May 18, 2016

Hi there

Not sure how but I missed posting this card when I made it back in March!

This is one of my favourite stamp sets – it’s so versatile being an outline stamp and all the stamps within the set are great.

This time I’ve used four of the 2015-2017 In Colors – Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Awesomely Artistic, Petite Pairs
Card Stock – Basic Black, Cucumber Crush
DSP – Neutrals DSP Stack
Ink – Momemto Black, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe

It’s not long to go until the new catalogue and new In Colors will be with us so if there is anything you really want that is on the retiring list get in touch with me now to place an order – you don’t want to miss out.

#imbringingbirthdaysback

By | May 13, 2016

Hi there

Well today is a special day – it’s Shannon West’s birthday.  You ask who is Shannon West?  Shannon is our wonderful Demonstrator Training Manager and at the beginning of the year started the #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign.  Shannon has been sending us handmade cards for our birthdays so now that it’s her birthday demonstrators from around the world have been sending her birthday cards over the last few weeks – she will be very busy today (probably for a couple of days actually) opening them all up.  Have a fantastic day Shannon.

This is the card I made her using one of my favourite suites – Botanical Blooms

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Botanical Blooms, Butterfly Basics
Card Stock – Whisper White, Basic Black, Garden Green
Ink – Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo
Other – Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Botanical Builder Framelits, Rhinestones

Farewell to Summer Silhouettes

By | May 11, 2016

Hi there

This time of year is always a sad one – saying goodbye to those stamp sets we’ve loved for the last couple of years.  The main image is from Summer Silhouettes and is a great two-step stamp. I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to make sure the flowers end up in the right place.  It’s so much easier with this great tool.  It’s a bit hard to tell in the photo but I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the flower for a bit of sparkle 🙂

This is one of my favourite colour combos – Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Crumb Cake.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Summer Silhouettes, Build a Birthday
Card Stock – Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink – Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
DSP – Polka Dot Parade (Retired)
Other – Wink of Stella, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

Spinner Shaker Card in One

By | May 10, 2016

Hi there

Last month a friends son turned five which is a pretty big day for a kid – starting school.  So I had to make a special card.  It’s ages since I made a Spinner Card.  I have a big container of American pennies (about the size of our 10 cents) which I used to create the spinning part of the card.  My ‘star’ spins from side to side across the front of the card.

Here’s a side view of my star and sneak peak at a new product that will be available in the new catalogue 🙂  It made it so easy to make this card.

And of course the card needed a 3D box full of chocolates so I created an Explosion Box
The Number of Years bundle is great for these types of cards

Supplies:
Stamp set – Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Number of Years
Card Stock – Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White
DSP – Cherry on Top
Other – Word Window Punch, Stars Framelits, Large Numbers Framelits, Window Sheets, Metallic Sequin Assortment, Foam Adhesive Strips

Buckle Card Fancy Fold

By | May 5, 2016

Hi there

Back again with another creation using product from the It’s My Party Suite this time.

For this card I’ve used the It’s My Party DSP for the balloons – which were punched out using the Balloon Bouquet Punch – and the strip down the side.  I love how our Washi Tape comes in a set of five designs and three different widths – great for layering.  Here I’ve used the Melon Mambo design (1.6cm wide) for the base and then layered the Basic Black design (1cm wide) on top.  The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set Perfect Pairings.

With the Word Window punch retiring at the end of the month I’ll have to think of another punch to use to create this card – so watch this space.

Botanical Gardens creations

By | May 4, 2016

Hi there

I hadn’t realised my posts had been so few and far between – I need to create some extra hours in the evening somehow so I can get ahead!

It’s now less than one month till the new annual catalogue goes live and I still have so many samples to show you from the current catalogue.  Tonight I have two creations using the Botanical Gardens suite of products – I have really loved this suite.

This card uses the Scallop Tag Topper punch to create the closure.  I love it when a product has more than one use.  I’m not sure what the technique is called for creating the flowers but it’s the same as I did for a workshop back in February and I love it.  You get a different look for each flower.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Botanical Blooms, Suite Sayings
Card Stock – Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink – Mossy Meadow, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Marina Mist
Other – Botanical Builder Framelits, Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Old Olive Bakers Twine

This card has no stamping – other than the sentiment on the inside – it’s created with a variety of framelits from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  You are only limited by the colour of card stock you use.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Butterfly Basics
Card Stock – Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Whisper White, Basic Black
DSP – Botanical Gardens DSP
Other – Botanical Builder Framelits, Candy Dots (Whisper White, Cajun Craze, So Saffron)

Mothers Day Card and Gift

By | April 26, 2016

Hi there

The theme for this month’s card class was Mother’s Day which is celebrated on Sunday 8th May in New Zealand.  My card is CASED from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue.  I’ve kept the layout but changed the colours and the sentiment.  The annual catalogue is a great source of inspiration.  Check out the original design on page 67.

I’ve kept the colour theme for the gift – a note pad and mini gel pen.  You can never have enough note pads!

I really like the design of this card and with a few changes of sentiment you could use this for any type of card.

The ladies had fun creating their own design for the front of the note pad using various flowers and leaves from the Botanical Builders Framelits – it really is a versatile framelit set.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Wondrous Wreath, Crazy About You, Pictogram Punches
Card Stock – Mint Macaron, Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White
Ink – Mint Macaron, Cucumber Crush, Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride
Paper – Birthday Bouquet DSP
Other – Silver Fancy Foil Vellum, Banner Framelits, Botanical Builder Framelits, Wonderful Wreath Framelits, Triple Banner Punch, Rhinestones, Silver Metallic Bakers Twine, Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack, It’s My Party Enamel Dots, Dimensionals
