Going Global this time

By | April 12, 2016

Hi there

Back again with some more masculine creations using the Going Global products from the Occasions Catalogue.

This is another Buckle Card and is a mixture of DSP and stamps for the design.  The front left panel is created by stamping the ‘constellation’ stamp multiple times on a piece of Very Vanilla.  I adhered it to the mat before punching out the opening to form the ‘buckle’.  The right hand side panel is a piece of DSP.

This is all DSP punched out with the Hexagon Punch.  Not sure why I haven’t used this sentiment stamp before – it’s great for a fun masculine card.

For this card I’ve just used a sheet of DSP, added some ribbon and the sentiment.

Supplies:
Stamps – Perfect Pairings, Oh My Goodies
Card Stock – Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand, Delightful Dijon, Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Ink – Mossy Meadow, Momento Black
DSP – Going Places
Other – Hexagon Punch, Word Window Punch, Deco Labels Framelits, Mossy Meadow Satin Ribbon (retired), Dimensionals

Going Places

By | April 11, 2016

Hi there

I’ve had to create a number of masculine birthday cards lately and the Going Global suite has certainly come in handy.  I’ve used the same design as this card but created my own backgrounds with stamps from the Going Global set

This one uses the ‘compass’ stamp

And this one uses the ‘constellation’ stamp for a custom design

Check back tomorrow for two more cards using these products.

Supplies:
Stamps – Going Global, Suite Sayings, Crazy about You
Card Stock – Mossy Meadow, Delightful Dijon, Lost Lagoon, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Ink – Momento Black, Mossy Meadow
DSP – Going Places
Other – Banner Triple Punch, Large Oval, Scallop Oval, World Traveler Embossing Folder, 2″ Circle Punch, 1″ Square Punch, Tags and Labels Framelits, Dimensionals

Build A Birthday – Cake

By | April 6, 2016

Hi there

It’s been a while since I used this stamp set – Build A Birthday – so out it came to see some ink.

This set is a photopolymer one which makes it easier to line the various cake layers up.

The cake layers can also double as candles :).  It’s a bit hard to see but I used the Clear Wink of Stella on the candle flame and the banner on the front of the card.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Build a Birthday, Pictogram Punches
Card Stock – Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Ink – Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, Smoky Slate, Pumpkin Pie
Other – Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Rhinestones, Wink of Stella Clear

March Card Class Projects

By | April 4, 2016

Hi there

I’ve been a bit slack and I’ve forgotten to show you the cards we made at our March card class so without further ado here they are.

The vellum is one of the Sale-A-Bration products and coordinates with the Botanical Gardens Suite in the Occasions Catalogue.  After cutting out all the pieces I adhered them to the vellum.  Now the trick – how to adhere the vellum to the card base without the adhesive being seen.  I turned the vellum over and using my Snail applied adhesive on the back of the flowers, ferns and numbers then stuck it down on the card base.  Not all of the vellum is stuck down but that doesn’t matter – it’s not going to come off :).  Another trick is stick it down in the corners with glue dots and then place a Pearl, Rhinestone or Candy Dot on top of the glue dot and all is hidden.

I forgot to take a photo of the inside!  We stamped ‘Happy Birthday’ from Perfect Pairings plus the leaf image in the bottom corner.

Supplies:
Stamp – Botanical Blooms, Perfect Pairings
Card Stock – Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Ink – Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Momento Black
Other – Large Number Framelits Botanical Builder Framelits, Dauber, Botanical Gardens Vellum

This card is a mix of CASES and a bit of my twist on them.  I find when I use Very Vanilla or Whisper White for a card base it needs an extra layer to give it some strength.  Here we used Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and then the card front of Very Vanilla.  We repeated these layers for the inside as well.

Supplies:
Stamp – Timeless Textures
Card Stock – Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
Ink – Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride, Rose Red
Other – Hello You Thinlits, Linen Thread, Designer Very Vintage Buttons, Wink of Stella Gold

Creative Inkers March Extravaganza Project

By | March 28, 2016

Hi there

Last weekend we held our March Extravaganza event for the Creative Inkers team.  It was a full on day with 101 ladies creating five projects.  Here is the project I taught along with Jacque and Kath.  It’s a notecard holder using a sheet of DSP and three stamped Note Cards.  Our project uses products from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

There are a few versions of this holder available on Pinterest and Google.  I did a few modifications so that you can easily fit our Note Cards and Envelopes in and also created a ‘spine’ for the folder so that it allows for the thickness of the Note Cards.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flowering Fields, Botanicals For You
Card Stock – Whisper White, Lost Lagoon
DSP – Wildflower Fields DSP
Ink – Black StazOn, Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon
Other – Note Cards and Envelopes, Rhinestones, Calypso Coral Bakers Twine, Dimensionals, Blender Pens, Simply Scored Tool

Check back tomorrow to see the other four projects that were taught.

A tidy craft space – but for how long???

By | March 27, 2016

Hi there

As promised here’s a photo of my tidy desk – enjoy it while you can as it doesn’t stay this tidy for long!

I swapped the desk and drawer unit over as the previous layout was a bit of a Health and Safety issue!  Whenever the drawers were out I had to walk/climb over them (depending how much stuff was on the floor) and would always end up with a bruise!  My ink carousel now turns easier that it is on one level and has space!  Even though my space is small I love it and can reach almost everything I need from my chair 🙂

This is my new Big Shot table – it’s on casters so will be great to wheel into the dining room for classes when needed and all my dies and framelits come along automatically 🙂  Thanks to my brother for making this 25 years ago and no longer needing it.  A lick of paint and some new drawers and I’m ready to go.  It’s much bigger and stronger than my previous unit which has now become a ‘joint’ craft and photographic storage unit.

I’m now set to craft so watch this space for new creations.

Have a great rest of the long weekend.

Botanical Blooms Z Fold Card

By | March 25, 2016

Hi there

I’ve had a very productive evening tonight – something I’ve been wanting to do for ages.  I am now the proud owner of a tidy desk 🙂 well for at least for one night!  I’ve rearranged my craft space and in the process had a tidy up.  I’ll try and take a photo tomorrow so you can see.

Here’s a card I made earlier in the month to send to a fellow demo I admire in the UK.  The design is the same as we used for our November Extravaganza project but with a different stamp set.

The technique for the flowers is the same as the card here – its becoming one of my favourite techniques and works really well with this stamp set.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Botanical Blooms, Suite Sayings, Butterfly Basics
Card Stock – Thick Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive
Ink – Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Momento Black
Other – Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Botanical Builder Framelits, Daubers, Clear Wink of Stella

Don’t forget there are only 6 days left of Sale-A-Bration – so contact me now with your order of NZ$110 and receive a FREE product from the Sale-A-Bration range.

Petite Petals Happy Birthday

By | March 21, 2016

Hi there

Yesterday was my mother’s birthday and we celebrated with a lovely family breakfast at a local cafe – I had yummy French Toast.  Her gift was of course a crafting one – a new Perpetual Calendar.  We now need to find time to decorate it.

I CASED this card from Sam Donald – a very talented demo based in the UK.  I love the colour combination of Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry and TipTop Taupe.

Blushing Bride has seen a lot more light in the last couple of months – I’m loving it and the rest of the Subtles as they have probably been my least used colour family.  Do you have a colour family you shy away from?  Leave me a comment and I’ll let you know the least used family.

Don’t forget Sale-A-Bration is coming to an end in 10 days so if there is something in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue you really want then contact me with your order of NZ$110 before the 31st March.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Petite Petals, Endless Birthday Wishes
Card Stock – Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White
Ink – Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry
Other – Tip Top Taupe Doted Lace Ribbon, Petite Petals Punch, Linen Thread, Basic Pearls

Number of Years Wedding Anniversaries

By | March 13, 2016

Hi there

Another weekend has flown by – I hope you have managed to get some ‘crafting time’ in.  I’ve been busy preparing for my monthly card classes plus finishing off preparations for our Creative Inkers Extravaganza next weekend.

Here are some wedding anniversary cards I made for friends who celebrated last month – 5 years and 14 years respectively.

 Supplies:
Stamp Set – Number of Years
Card Stock – Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink – Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Pool Party
Other – Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Oval Framelits, Pearls

This is a great two-step stamp set and the flower image lends to all sorts of colour combinations.  As I had two cards to do together I stamped the image the same but just changed the shape of card stock I stamped onto – two similar cards created quickly.

 Supplies:
Stamp Set – Number of Years
Card Stock – Pool Party, Whisper White
Ink – Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Pool Party
Other – Fluttering Embossing Folder, Circle Framelits, Pearls

I still have a couple of seats available for the Envelope Punch Board class on Saturday 2nd April at 1:30pm.  If you’re interested to come along please send me an email.

Turning 21 Again?

By | March 10, 2016

Hi there

I friend of mine turned a big ‘0’ earlier this month and I didn’t really want to put the actual number on the card front so went with the ’21 again’ theme.  How could he forget his 21st birthday – being tied to a pole at the Royal Oak Roundabout, wearing a ‘bib’ and being fed ice cream from Ollies!

As this card was for a guy I didn’t think it was appropriate to stamp the flower image on the card front 🙂 so I created my own background using the stripes Decorative Mask.  I placed the mask over my Whisper White card front and held it in place with some washi tape.  Using a sponge I applied Crumb Cake ink, removed the mask and there you have it.

And yes he did enjoy his card.

Supplies:
Stamp set – Number of Year, Balloon Builders, Party Wishes
Card Stock – Tangelo Twist, Whisper White
Ink – Tangelo Twist, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake, Momento Black
Other – Large Numbers Framelits, Party Punch Pack, Stripes Decorative Mask, Sponge, Dimensionals

Going Global – Going Masculine

By | March 5, 2016

Hi there

Just a quick post tonight – I’ve had a busy day prepping my project for Extravaganza which is in a couple of weeks.  If you’d like to attend this fun event please email me by Thursday 10 March.  The event is being held on Saturday 19 March at the Remuera Bridge Club from 12:30 – 5;00pm.

I’m loving the Going Global Suite of products in the Occasions Catalogue – great for those tricky masculine themed cards.  I had some left over squares from my earlier cards so this one was super quick to make.  I’ve used the World Traveler Embossing Folder for some texture and to add another layer to the card.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Going Global
Card Stock – Mossy Meadow, Very Vanilla, Basic Black
Ink – Momento Black, Mossy Meadow
DSP – Going Places Paper Stack
Other – 1″ Square Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, 2″ Circle Punch, World Traveler Embossing Folder, Dimensionals
