Sheltering Tree and Big Day – cards from February card class

By | March 30, 2015

Hi there

I got a bit busy last week preparing for our Creative Inkers Extravaganza.  I left a few too many things to do in the last week which meant no blogging time!  Before I can show you the project I taught I need to do a catch up on what I’ve taught at my last two card classes.

Here’s what we did at our February class.  The first card uses the set Sheltering Tree from the Occasions Catalogue and the second card uses Big Day from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

I found this card design on Debbie Henderson’s blog and fell in love with it.

It’s not just a pretty card – it’s a card with a perforated bookmark attached.  I’d purchased the perforating blade when it came out but had never used it.  I think this is such a cool card and I can’t wait to trail some other designs.  I did change the inside image to the one Debbie had used otherwise I kept the colours and general layout of the images.

Supplies:
Stamp – Sheltering Tree, Crazy about You
Card Stock – Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink – Old Olive, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso, Momento Black
Other – Perforating Blade, Early Espresso Bakers Twine

I also CASED the second card from a fellow team member Kathe but made a few tweaks to use the new ColorBox Chalk ink from the Occasions Catalogue.

To get the ‘legs’ of my blackboard I used the Square Framelits so that they were even and cut through both layers at the same time.
Supplies:
Stamp – Big Day, Hardwood
Card Stock – Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette, Naturals White, Chalkboard Paper
Ink – Rose Coral Chalk Ink, Crumb Cake, Black Momento Ink
DSP – Lullaby
Other – Banner Punch, Square Framelits, Early Espresso Baker Twine

Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack – Happy Birthday Mum

By | March 22, 2015

Hi there

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend – I’m sure the Black Caps have 🙂

It was my Mum’s birthday on Friday and today we had a family lunch to celebrate her special day.  I’ve used the new Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack which is one of the additional Sale-A-Bration items that have been added.  There are 12 different designs and you get two of each.  Each sheet measures 15.2cm x 15.2cm so great for cards.

I’ve kept this pretty simple with just two colours – Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.  I’ve used my markers and coloured in the image from the back.  Leave it a few minutes before adhering to your card stock to allow the ink to dry so it won’t smudge on the card stock.  Fast Fuse works the best it adhere Vellum to card stock as it doesn’t show through.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Crazy About You, Butterfly Basics
Card Stock – Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
Ink/Markers – Island Indigo, Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz
Other – Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack, Designer Label Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon (Retired)

Have a great week.

We Stamp for Lara – Colour Spot Challenge

By | March 20, 2015

Hi there

Wow – two posts in two days 🙂

One of our Aussie demo’s has been fundraising to get a new (to them) car as her daughter is in a wheelchair and they needed to upgrade their current vehicle.  She and a group of other demo’s have put together 31 tutorials – one per day of March – click here to find out more.  It’s not too late to join up.

Along with daily tutorials there have been challenges – layout, colour and using your least used inks and stamps.  Well today’s card is for the later – my least used colours are Blushing Bride and Always Artichoke and a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink in a long time is Mosaic Madness.  Here is the combination of all three.

I’ve teamed it up with the co-ordinating embossing folder – Modern Mosaic.  I was really pleased with this combination and may just have to use it again.  I think it looks really good on the Very Vanilla which doesn’t get as much air time as Whisper White.
To finish off my card I used a scrap of Blushing Bride Satin Ribbon I found in my ribbon box – these little pieces come in handy.
Have a good weekend.

We Stamp For Lara – Colour Challenge

By | March 19, 2015

Hi there

Yes – I am still alive – life has been rather full on the last couple of weeks with workshops, card classes and relocating our office to a new building.  I have managed to squeeze in some crafting time for myself but just haven’t got round to blogging my creations.  So here are two cards I made recently for a colour challenge.

We were given the following colours to work with – Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Basic Gray.

For this card I decided to use a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink for a while – Geometrical.  This was such a quick card to create – especially with the ‘Hello You’ thinlits.  The ‘thanks’ die is easily adjusted to ‘thank’ and goes perfectly with the ‘you’.

This is another versatile set – Kinda Eclectic – and works well with the ‘hello’.  To give the card some depth I restamped the sun image then punched out the centre with the 1″ punch and adhered it with a dimensional.
I will try my best to post more regularly as I have heaps of projects to show you.
Don’t forget Sale-A-Bration finishes on the 31st March so if you want to receive FREE product with an order over $110 (NZ) just send me an email.

Valentines or Wedding Anniversary

By | February 23, 2015

Hi there

Sorry for no posts over the weekend but I was at our Creative Inkers Team Stamp Camp in Rotorua – we had such an amazing time away.  Phil came down with me this year – and no he didn’t do any paper crafting instead he went off to do some photography.  He only appeared when food was being served!  He’s already waiting for next years date so he can plan his days.

On Valentines Day my parents celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  Congratulations Mum and Dad – you two are a real inspiration to us all with the love you have for each other.

Each year I make Dad a card to give to Mum and here’s his one for this year.

And here’s a view from the top.  I also made him this little box filled with chocolates to give her 🙂
Dad was really pleased with this and so was Mum 🙂
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Real Red, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
DSP – Stack with Love
Ink – Real Red
Other – Owl Punch, Bird Builder Punch, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Heart Punch, Organza Ribbon, Googly Eyes (Non SU)

Crazy for You

By | February 18, 2015

Hi there

I think I’ve found ‘another’ favourite stamp set or two in the new Occasions Catalogue!  Crazy for You is so versatile – it has 3 images and 30 words to mix and match with the Hello You Thinlits Die.

Here are three cards I’ve made recently using this set and die.  The first one is one I taught at a recent workshop and was inspired by a card I saw from Dawn Olchefske

Here’s another card in the same layout but with the other ‘flower’ stamp and different words.

I had a scrap of the Irresistibly Yours DSP on my desk so I sponged it but then couldn’t work out what to do with it!  After playing with different designs this is what I finally settled on – clean and simple.  The Thinlits word is actually ‘Thanks’ but you can easily remove the ‘S’ and get two words for one 🙂

I am really loving this new thinlits die and how easy it is to coordinate with the words from Crazy for You – the possibilities are endless.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Crazy for You
DSP – Irresistibly Yours
Other – Hello You Thinlits Die

Card One
Card Stock – Strawberry Slush, Whisper White
Ink – Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz, Elegant Eggplant
Card Two
Card Stock – Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink – Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, Elegant Eggplant
Card Three
Card Stock – Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink – Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Pool Party

Happy Heart – Happy Wedding Anniversary

By | February 16, 2015

Hi there

I can’t believe it’s almost two weeks since I last did a blog post!  I haven’t been sitting around doing nothing – it’s just I haven’t had enough time to post my creations.  I’ve been busy at work too as we are about to move office in two weeks and we have accumulated a lot more stuff than when we moved in 18 months ago!

Anyway on with the project – at the beginning of the month our bridesmaid and her husband celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary 🙂  Here is the card I made for them:

I played around with a couple of configurations with the nine hearts and finally settled on the above.  The heart is from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and fits perfectly inside the embossed heart from the new Happy Heart Embossing Folder.

I punched another two hearts and adhered them at the top to balance the row of hearts at the bottom.  The new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die comes with so many accessories including this cute row of hearts which are cut from the Whisper White card insert.  I have then adhered a piece of the Glimmer Paper behind so that the colour shows through.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Real Red, Red Glimmer Paper, Whisper White, Brushed Silver
Ink – Real Red
Other – Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die, Happy Heart Embossing Folder

Altered Notebooks

By | February 3, 2015

Hi there

I love making altered notebooks and pads as gifts.  Here are some I made for my card class ladies.  I had hoped to give them to them for Christmas but I ran out of time to make them so they got them at last months class instead – I nice way to start the year 🙂

I love these Pentel RSVP pens – they are so nice to write with and with a bit of matching DSP in the barrel they look really good with the notebooks.

For the bottom set of notebooks I used some Glimmer Brads and just cut of the split pin part and adhered them with a couple of glue dots

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Embellished Events
Card Stock – Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Primrose Petal, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit (retired)
DSP – Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple (retired)
Ink – Gumball Green (retired)
Other – Glimmer Brads, Pearls, Blendabilities, Glue Dots, Sequins

Creative Inkers Occasions Blog Hop

By | January 26, 2015

Hi there

Occasions Badge

Welcome back to our second Creative Inkers Blog Hop for 2015.  This blog hop showcases products from the Occasions Catalogue that was released earlier this month and is here until 2 June 2015.  It’s full of lovely stamp sets, paper and accessories.  Don’t forget that for every $110 NZD that you spend between now and 31 March 2015 you get to choose FREE product from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.
If you’ve been following the blog hop you will have come from the very talented Rachael Knight or you may have just joined my page.  If you get ‘lost’ there’s a list of all the blogs at the bottom of this post.  So grab a cuppa and enjoy the ‘hop’ – this is a longer post than normal so read to the bottom 🙂
I’ve gone with the same style of card – Magic Card – for my two projects.  The first one uses my favourite set – From the Herd.  I’ve always wanted to make a Magic card and this set works perfectly.
What’s so magical about this card you say – well wait until you pull the tab up and voila – colour appears.

And here’s the herd on the inside.
I’ve coloured my images using our Blendabilities – which you can get FREE as part of Sale-A-Bration.
Supplies:
Stamp set – From the Herd
Card Stock – Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Whisper White
DSP – Park Lane
Ink/Blendabilities – Momento Black Ink, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Black StazOn
Other – 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Deco Labels, Window Sheet, Early Espresso Bakers Twine
For my second card I’ve used a set that I think will become a favourite – Sheltering Tree.  Again – where’s the magic?
Ahh

And a close up – this was so much fun to stamp.  First the tree trunk, then the leaves (whatever the season), then the grass and finally personalise your scene.  I’ve added the swing and bike with a few ‘flowers’ off to the left.

And the inside can’t be left out

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Sheltering Tree
Card Stock – Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
DSP – Park Lane
Ink – Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Black StazOn
Other – 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, CIrcle Framelits, Line Thread, Window Sheets, Early Espresso Bakers Twine
I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit to my blog – please leave a comment as I love to hear from you.  My ‘comments’ link is at the bottom of my post just below the photo of Yellowbear

Celebrate Today – Happy Birthday

By | January 25, 2015

Hi there

For those of you in Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty I hope you are enjoying your long weekend – I could get used to 3 day weekends!

Today’s card uses one of the new sets from the Occasions Catalogue called Celebrate Today.  The great thing with this set is that you can get it as a bundle (and save 15%) with the coordinating Balloon Framelits.

I created a ‘mask’ so that I could stamp the bunting in alternate colours – a bit time consuming but as this set comes in Photopolymer it was easy to align the image each time I stamped it.  I had tried using markers but the colour wasn’t strong enough for my liking – I’m a ‘bolds’ girl rather than a ‘subtles’.  There is also a matching framelit in the Balloon set so no ‘fussy’ cutting needed 🙂

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Celebrate Today
Card Stock – Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Ink – Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point
Other – Balloon Framelits, Dimensionals

Don’t forget to check back tomorrow at 8:00pm for our second Creative Inkers Blog Hop showcasing products from the new Occasions Catalogue.

Enjoy your day off tomorrow 🙂

Creative Inkers Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

By | January 19, 2015

Hi there

Blog Buttons-006

Glad you can join us for another Creative Inkers Blog Hop.  This blog hop showcases products from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  For every $110 NZD that you spend between now and 31 March 2015 your get to choose FREE product from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

If you’ve been following the blog hop you will have come from Rachael Knight’s blog or you may have just joined my page.  If you get ‘lost’ there’s a list of all the blogs at the bottom of this post.  Now on with my project.

This first card is one I taught at my card class last week and uses four Sale-A-Bration products – Irresistably Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP), Big Day Stamp Set, Blendabilities and Best Year Ever Accessory Pack.

I love this DSP – it’s white glossy paper with different patterns that you can colour in a variety of techniques.  For these cards I’ve used ink and sponges but you could use daubers, a brayer or a spritzer to get different effects.  I sponged three colours on randomly then used a tissue to wipe away any excess ink.  It gives the effect of the emboss resist technique.  No two cards will be the same.

For the second card I still used sponges but applied the colours light to dark to light to give a blended look.  I’ve also used another of the patterns – quite a different look for this card.

I’m really loving this stamp set which comes with five stamps – it’s great for colouring in using the Blendabilites which are also a FREE product.  For the ‘Celebrate’ I restamped it on a scrap piece of card then hand cut it out, coloured it in with my Bendabilities then adhered it over the original image.  I did this on both cards.
Here’s a full list of the supplies I used:
Stamp Set – Big Day
Card Stock – Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Costal Cabana, Whisper White.  Naturals White, Rich Razzleberry
Ink/Blendabilities – Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana. Soft Sky, Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Rich Razzleberry, Costal Cabana.  Momento Black
Other – Banner Framelits, Circle Framelits, 2″ Circle Punch, Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, Dimensionals

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creations.  Check back next Monday 26th January at the same time for our next blog hop which will showcase products from the Occasions Catalogue – now you’ll be heading to Sally Williams’ blog

Happy Anniversary

By | January 19, 2015

Hi there

Today Phil and I are celebrating our 13th Wedding Anniversary with a long weekend away in Raglan on the west coast of the North Island.  Happy Anniversary Babe – thanks for being such an amazing husband – love you heaps.

Here is the card I made for him which is also the card I taught at last weeks card class.  We had a bit of fun making this as every time he walked through the lounge the girls quickly turned the card over in case he saw it 🙂

The ladies had wanted to make another ‘card in a box’ card and I found a really good tutorial for a rectangle card on Diane Barnes blog – check it out here.  With this design you can get two cards out of an A4 sheet of card stock and it fits into our standard envelopes. Thanks for Di for sharing this with us.

Do you like the paper I’ve used?  It’s from the new paper stack – Stacked with Love – which is in the new Occasions Catalogue.  I’m not really a ‘hearts’ girl but this paper range is really lovely and I love all the paper designs.  It has black images on one side and red tones on the other and at NZD$14.50 it’s really good value.  You get 48 sheets per pack – 4 each of 12 double-sided designs.

In my clean up over the holidays I found some Googly eyes so thought I’d add them to this project – they make cute owls don’t you think?  I’ve used one of my ‘go to’ sets for the sentiments – Memorable Moments.  This is such a versatile set even though it’s only numbers and a few sentiments.  If you don’t own this set I’d say have a re-think 🙂

Supplies:
Stamp – Pictogram Punches, Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Real Red, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White
DSP – Stacked with Love Paper Stack
Ink – Real Red
Other – Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Owl Builder Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Hearts Framelits, Label Card Thinlits, Googly eyes (non SU)

Well I hope you enjoy your day because I will be enjoying mine 🙂

Check back tonight at 8:00pm for our Creative Inkers Blog Hop showcasing projects using products from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

Yesterday I had three people celebrate birthdays – so here is the first card.

I’m loving the combination of this set and Blendabilities – colouring in takes you back to your childhood and is very relaxing.

Stamp – From the Herd
Card Stock – Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
DSP – Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso Paper Stack (retired)
Ink – Momento Black, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, Old Olive
