Work of Art – 3″ x 3″ note cards

By | July 29, 2014

Hi there

We had a great turnout at our Creative Inkers Extravaganza on Saturday – 93 attendees :).  I love these events an everyone seems to enjoy them as they keep on coming back!  They all made five projects and this is what I taught with my friend Narelle.  These are 3″ x 3″ gift cards and they made two of each design using the Work of Art stamp set and the Moonlight DSP Paper Stack – loving both of these products.

The cards then went in a cute box created by Jacque, Angela and Kathryn

Supplies:
Stamps – Work of Art
Card Stock – Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey
Ink – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey
DSP – Moonlight Paper Stack
Other – Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Dimensionals, Rhinestones

I’ll be back tomorrow with the other three projects.

Kinda Eclectic and 2014 In Colors

By | July 21, 2014

Hi there

I’ve been a busy little beaver this last week and am slowly coming up for air.  I have been busy preparing for workshops, classes and our Auckland Extravaganza.  I can now show you the card that I taught at my workshops this weekend – thanks ladies for two great crafting afternoons.

I fell in love with the ‘Kinda Eclectic’ set when I saw it so I knew I had to use it in my workshop.  This set has six stamps in it and I’ve managed to use them all on this card and all the new In Colors!

The ladies were able to choose their favourite colour card base so they all looked different – I used Hello Honey for mine.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Kinda Eclectic
Card Stock – Hello Honey, Very Vanilla
Ink – Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow and Momento Tuxedo Black
Punches – Elegant Butterfly, 3/4″ Circle

Well I’ve just finished prepping for my class on Wednesday – it’s taken me longer than I thought as I’m out babysitting and Bella has been sitting on my knee wanting attention.  I think the saying is true – dogs have owners and cats have staff!

Keep warm and dry

Flowershop Birthday

By | July 9, 2014

Hi there

This is a card I made for a friend who had her birthday back in March and I’m only just now getting round to bloging it – how bad is that!

Her favourite colour combo is black and white (or vanilla in this case) and my favourite colour is yellow – so I married the two together and this is what I came up with.  I’ve heat embossed the images then punched them out with the matching Pansy Punch.  I do love it when you get a matching punch or framelit for a stamp set.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flowershop, Bring on the Cake (retired)
Card Stock – Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Daffodil Delight
DSP – Modern Medley
Ink – Black StazOn
Other – Black Embossing Powder, Pansy Punch, Itty Bitty Punch pack, Chalk Talk Framelits

Hello Honey meets Lost Lagoon – July class cards

By | July 8, 2014

Hi there

I’m not sure what the weather is doing at your place tonight but the wind is howling around at mine – I’m sure the clothesline will be spinning round rather fast!

Here are the cards we made at my July card class last week:

I think this card layout has been a hit since we all saw it on Sandi McIvor’s blog.  I loved creating it for my niece (see Sunday’s post) so I decided to teach it to my class but this time used Hello Honey as the card base.  I must trial it using the other new In-Colours.

The second card we made was one shown at our recent Team Training.  I’ve paired Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon with the new Moonlight DSP Paper Stack.  I love these paper stacks and they’re great value at 48 sheets for $14.50.  There are two designs in the new catalogue – check them out on page 185

I’ve used the greeting ‘Hello Friend’ from the Six Sided Sampler set but only inked up the word ‘hello’ by using the markers.  This was a very simple card to create but very effective with the top layer being raised on dimensionals to give some height to the card.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Six Sided Sampler
Card Stock – Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Whisper White
Marker – Blackberry Bliss
DSP – Moonlight DSP Paper Stack
Other – Hexagon Punch, Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Work of Art birthday

By | July 6, 2014

Hi there

Just a quick post tonight.  It was my niece’s 18th birthday last Sunday and here is the card I made for her.  It’s a CASE from Sandi McIvor although I’ve used Flowering Flourishes instead of Everything Eleanor.

I even remembered to photograph the inside this time!  I LOVE the new In-Colours ribbon.  It’s nice and soft and it makes beautiful bows.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Work of Art, Flowering Flourishes, Bring on the Cake (now retired)
Card Stock – Lost Lagoon, Whisper White
Ink – Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Momento
Other – Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Basic Pearls

Another Retro Fresh Birthday set

By | July 1, 2014

Hi there

Here’s another card and gift I made last month using the now retired Retro Fresh DSP along with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit which has carried over :).

This time I’ve remembered to take a photo of the inside.  I’ve made my own ‘washi’ tape look by using the banner stamp from the Perfect Pennants set.  One set that I will really miss now that is has retired is ‘Bring on the Cake’.  I have used this particular stamp SO many times for cards.  It’s great as is or coloured in.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Perfect Pennants, Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White
DSP – Retro Fresh
Ink – Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar
Other – Banner Framelits, Hexagon Hive Thinlit, Envelope Punch Board, Small Oval

Retro Fresh Happy Birthday

By | June 30, 2014

Hi there

Well today is the last day of the 2013-2014 Catalogue – which means that tomorrow the new catalogue goes live!  There are so many new yummy products coming from Stamps, Designer Series Paper, Ribbon, Framelits, Blendabilities and more.  If you haven’t got your new catalogue yet just drop me an email and I’ll get one to you.

Last month one of the guys I used to work with had his birthday so here is the card and gift I dropped off in his letterbox.  After dropping it off on the way to work I sent him a text to say ‘Happy Birthday – check your letterbox before you go to work’.  His reply text was ‘WOW – thank you so very much’.  I love making somebody’s special day even more special with a little handmade treat.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Birthday
Card Stock – So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar, Naturals White
DSP – Retro Fresh
Other – Hexagon Hive Thinlit, Candy Dots, Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon, Envelope Punch Board

Graduation Cards

By | June 29, 2014

Hi there

Three of the guys at work graduated back in May and this is the card that I made each of them on behalf of the Company.  As they were all graduating with engineering degrees I thought I’d use ‘violet – aka Elegant Eggplant’ as my base as this is the colour in their ‘hoods’.

I’d seen instructions ages ago on how to make the owl so set about creating an owl for each card.  I had to improvise a small heart for the beak as I no longer have the 5-Petal punch.  I was really pleased with the finished cards – and so too were the guys when they realised I’d made it especially for them 🙂

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Word Play (retired)
Card Stock – Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Basic Gray,Crushed Curry
Ink – Elegant Eggplant
Punches – Scallop Circle, Round Tab, 3/4″ Circle, 1/4 Circle, Modern Label, Small Heart
Other – Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Black embroidery thread (non SU)

Another Great Birthday

By | June 28, 2014

Hi there

Finally getting round to blogging a card and gift box I made back in April!  Never mind – better late than never.

I saw this card on Lynn Weiss’s blog and fell in love with the monochromatic colour scheme she has used – I have CASE’d it exactly as she had designed it.  The Hardwood stamp is inked in Island Indigo and stamped on Island Indigo card stock.  It gives such a cool look.  The words are heat embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder – once directly onto the card front and then again on Bermuda Bay card stock.  The banner is then cut out and adhered with dimensionals.  I love the finishing touch of the Candy Dots in the corners.

This is one of my favourite 3D boxes – a clamshell box – and of course it was filled with chocolates 🙂

And the coordinating gift

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Birthday, Hardwood
Card Stock – Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Whisper White
Ink – Island Indigo
Other – Pool Party Embossing Powder, Candy Dots, Bermuda Bay Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals

Work of Art

By | June 22, 2014

Hi there

Yesterday we had our wider team training day.  It’s a great day to catch up with my fellow demos, learn new things, see new products and do a team swap.  This swap was using products from the upcoming catalogue.  One of the many benefits of being a demo is that we get to pre-order product a month before a new catalogue is released 🙂

My first purchase was the new set called ‘Work of Art’ – I love it.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing more projects using this set.  I’ve used the new 2014-2016 colours – ink and card stock and two stamps from the Work of Art set.

When I saw the stamps I new exactly what I would create – the palette design works really well with the words.

Here’s a closer look at them all:

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Work of Art
Card Stock – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink – Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Black StazOn
Other – Oval Framelits, Word Window Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Owl Builder Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Woodgrain Embossing Folder

Have a great week

Flowershop Gate Fold

By | June 19, 2014

Hi there

This is a card I taught at a workshop I had last month.  I CASED it from a card I’d seen on Dawn Griffith’s blog.  Because the American paper size is different to ours I had to do a few changes to make it fit.

The ladies enjoyed making this and it’s always good to learn a new style of card.

Supplies:
Stamp set – Flower Shop, Blooming Marvelous, Hardwood
Card Stock – Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White
Ink – Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Baked Brown Sugar
Other – Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Large Pearls, Pansy Punch, Envelope Punch Board, Dauber, Dimensionals

Birthday Candles – June card class

By | June 16, 2014

Hi there

As promised here is the second card we made at this months class.  It’s another birthday card that could be used for males of any age.

The Birthday Basics designer paper is perfect for creating these candles.  I chose the party hats, numbers and balloon paper to create my candles.  I cut my paper 4.5cm x 2cm.  I found it easier to pre-roll the candle then unroll it, add the ‘wick’ to the inside on the right-hand side of the paper and re-roll it.  To join it together I just used my Snail.  You can then put the join to the back.
To add a bit to the background cardstock we paper pierced it using the Festive templates.
And here’s the perfect sentiment for the inside
I will be sad to see this set retire at the end of the month.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Bermuda Bay, Naturals White
Ink – Bermuda Bay
DSP – Birthday Basics
Other – Window Framelits, Festive Paper Piercing Pack, White Bakers Twine

Happy 50th Birthday and June card class

By | June 15, 2014

Hi there

Yesterday my brother turned 50!! – I can’t believe he’s that old.  He is the best brother and I love him dearly even though he was a real tease when I was little.  Last night we celebrated his birthday with a lovely roast dinner at their house followed by watching a nerve racking game of rugby.  Half time consisted or yummy Lemon Meringue Pie and my Mum’s famous Latticework Pie.

My card class wanted a masculine ‘number’ birthday card this month so with Grant’s big birthday coming up I used it as my card to teach.  I find masculine cards very hard so went with a fun theme.

We used markers to colour in the image and then re-stamped and cut out the balloons.  The two smaller ones were adhered with a dimensional while the larger balloon was just stuck on top of the original image.
I wanted the inside to have a bit of a surprise so taught this ‘pop up’ insert which was one I’d learnt at my first ever Extravaganza about 5 years ago.

It’s very effective and easy to create with the help of the Word Window punch.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Tag It, Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla
Ink/Markers – Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Baked Brown Sugar
DSP – Birthday Basics
Other – Word Window Punch, Labels Framelits, Summer Starfruit Satin Ribbon, Dimensionals

Check back tomorrow for the second card we made at last months card class.

Another Tissue Box Cover

By | June 8, 2014

Hi there

I’ve had an ‘indoors’ weekend this weekend as I have got my first winter head cold!  It has however meant I’ve had time to clean my craft space in anticipation of the new catalogue arriving.  Not too many more weeks.

This afternoon I managed some craft time as I needed to make a birthday gift for one of the ladies at work.  First off I made her a tissue box cover

then I needed to make a card so I checked out good old Google for some inspiration and came across a card by Kylie Bertucci which I CASED in full – thanks Kylie for the great layout and the measurements
No gift is complete without chocolate – so I made my favourite ‘bag in a box’ by Sam Donald

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Label Something
Card Stock – Island Indigo, Pool Party, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink – Basic Black
DSP – Sweet Sorbet (SAB 2014 – retired)
Other – Oval Framelits, Sizzlits Floral Fusion, Envelope Punch Board, Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Large Pearls

Well I’m off to sort out my swaps for team training in a couple of weeks.

Catch you back soon
