Triple Time Stamping

By | February 13, 2014

Hi there

It’s been a while since I made a card using the Triple Time stamping technique so I thought that would be a good one to use for my second card at last nights class.

I’ve used one of the Sale-A-Bration FREE stamp sets – Petal Parade along with my favourite colour at the moment Bermuda Bay.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Petal Parade, Label Something
Card Stock – Soft Sued, Very Vanilla
Ink – Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry
Other – Ticket Punch,Bermuda Bay Taffeta Ribbon, Rhinestones, Dimensionals
The ladies enjoyed making both these cards and have given me some suggestions for the next couple of classes which is great so watch this space.

Clean & Simple challenge – FTL279

By | February 12, 2014

Hi there

Just a quick post tonight as I’m getting ready for my first monthly card class – very exciting.

Today’s card is for a new challenge site I’ve found called Clean and Simple Stamping

I’m back using my newest favourite stamp – Another Great Year.  This is one of the cards I’ll be teaching tonight.  It also uses the Retro Fresh Washi Tape which is so much fun to use – I hope my ladies enjoy making this.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Year
Card Stock – Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, Whisper White
Ink – Tangerine Tango, VersaMark
Other – Retro Fresh Washi Tape, Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Check back tomorrow for the second card we’ll be making.

JAI 201

By | February 11, 2014

Hi there

Time to join in another challenge – this time I’ve gone with Just Add Ink.  As soon as I saw the colour combo (Real Red, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand) I knew exactly what I’d make – gotta love that.  I’ve gone with a wedding anniversary theme as I have a few of those coming up this month.

I’ve used the just retired Flowerful Heart stamp then cut out smaller hearts from it with the Hearts Framelits.  The embossing folder is one of the options from Sale-A-Bration which you get for FREE when you spend $110 or more.  I like this folder more than the Perfect Polka Dots one as I think it gives a softer effect.
Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Flowerful Heart, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card Stock – Real Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink – Real Red, Pool Party, Island Indigo
Other – Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Hearts Collection Framelits, Dimensionals

Don’t forget to check out the Just Add Ink site and see the other creations – or better still have a go yourself.

Texture Boutique Embossing Machine tip

By | February 10, 2014

Hi there

I received my new Texture Boutique Embossing Machine on Friday so had a little play over the weekend.  This is a good option for those of you who don’t have a Big Shot but enjoy dry embossing on your cards and projects – and it’s cheaper than a Big Shot.

The new machine comes with two plates and a shim and this is the effect you get (I’ve just done this on a scrap piece of card stock to show you):

The effect is slightly lighter than you would get if you used the Big Shot.

To get a deeper impression one of my fellow demos Julia has worked out a way – just add another shim to the ‘sandwich’.  She made hers out of acetate – good thing I had some at home.  This is the effect you get with two layers of shim:

And just to compare – this one is done with the Big Shot:
And here they are all together:
If you’d like to have a play before you buy one then give me a call and pop on round.

Freshly Made Sketches – FMS122

By | February 9, 2014

Hi there

I’m a happy girl – my husband got home yesterday 🙂  It’s so nice having him back home after being away for work all last week.

A good family friend of ours is having his birthday this week and I needed some inspiration for a masculine card and gift.  I’ve chosen to use this weeks sketch from Freshly Made Sketches – it worked perfectly with the papers I wanted to use.

I’ve also gone with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.  This thinlit is slightly shorter than our NZ/Australian sized cards but I was able to cut it in half and add the DSP over the join so that it covered the whole card front 🙂  I must remember that for future cards.

And here is the inside plus a small gift to go with the card.

The box is made with a 6 3/8″ square of DSP and the Envelope Punch Board.  It holds six Whittakers mini slabs – now there’s a surprise.

And here it is all together:

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Perfect Pennants, Another Great Year
Card Stock – Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
DSP – Retro Fresh
Ink – Tangerine Tango
Other – Hexagon Hive Thinlit, Banner Framelits Die, Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape, Dimensionals, Envelope Punch Board

Another Great Year #3

By | February 8, 2014

Hi there

Here’s my last (for the moment) card using Another Great Year.

I’ve used the same method as yesterday’s card but this time I embossed it onto coloured card stock – Strawberry Slush.  I love this colour so much that I had to buy another pack of card stock as I’ve gone through so much lately :).  This one has a lot more layers on the front – six to be exact.  The paper is from the Kaleidoscope suite which is another favourite of mine from the new catalogue.

I’ve used the last stamp from the set – the small cupcake – for a more feminine look along the bottom.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Year
Card Stock – Strawberry Slush, Basic Black, Whisper White
DSP – Kaleidoscope
Ink – Strawberry Slush, Black StazOn
Other – Black Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Well I’m off to get ready to pick Phil up from the airport after being away for a week in Oz for work.  Our bathroom is now back up and running and I’ll be able to try out the new shower tomorrow.  My Dad (almost 81) has been wonderful and done the painting for me – what would I do without my Dad 🙂

Another Great Year #2

By | February 7, 2014

Hi there

Having had yesterday off for Waitangi Day today felt like it should have been a Monday – but it’s Friday and that now means it’s the weekend 🙂  I’m looking forward to having a sleep in tomorrow morning.

Here’s the second card I made using the new set Another Great Year

For this one I stamped the image twice on Whisper White card stock with embossing powder then cut out the ‘banner’ part and adhered it with dimensionals on top of the original image.  I used ink and a blender pen to colour in the banner.
The set has these cute macaroons or cupcakes (check tomorrow for that card) which are perfect for the inside of the card and another greeting.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Year
Card Stock – Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White
DSP – Sweet Sorbet
Ink – VersMark, Pistachio Pudding
Other – Black Embossing Powder, Blender Pens, Dimensionals

Another Great Year

By | February 6, 2014

Hi there

It’s been great having a day off today.  Phil is away in Melbourne this week for work and I have been staying at my parents as we are in the process of replacing our shower.  This morning Dad & I painted the ceiling and tomorrow the shower lining goes in.  This afternoon my niece came over and we made a card and 3D box.  She is going for her Gold Duke of Edinburgh medal and has chosen crafting for her skills section.

Last week we had our Creative Inkers Occasions swap and this is the card I made.

I must admit I was a bit over embossing and fussy cutting by the time I’d made 23 of these!  Having said that I then went on to make another two cards with this set which I’ll show in the next couple of days.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Year
Card Stock – Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink – VersaMark
Other – Black Embossing Powder, Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Fresh Prints Starburst

By | February 5, 2014

Hi there

Just a quick post tonight.  Here are two cards using the Starburst technique and the new Fresh Prints Paper Stack.  I think I like the one with the Coastal Cabana as the base.

These colours look so good together – so crisp and fresh 🙂
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Four You
Card Stock – Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Whisper White
DSP – Fresh Prints Designer Paper Stack
Ink – Real Red
Other – Coastal Cabana Ruffled Ribbon

Thank You card

By | February 4, 2014

Hi there

I have just finished organising two team swaps which meant I received a heap of parcels.  The ladies at my local Post Office have been wonderful – they know my PO Box number off by heart now :).  I wanted to say thank you so what better way than with a card and small gift – including chocolate of course 🙂

After using the Notecard’s the other day I thought I’d use them for this card and it worked a treat.  I stamped the image using markers for a more subtle effect and to get the multi colours. I made two of these little boxes using the Envelope Punch Board which each hold three Whittakers mini bars – I think I should get shares in Whittakers with the number of chocolates I buy!  My brother is borrowing my small circle punch so I used one of the circles from the Owl Builder punch instead.

Supplies:
Stamp sets – Flowering Flourishes, Label Something
Card Stock – Whisper White
DSP – Sweet Sorbet (SAB)
Markers – Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit, Pistachio Pudding
Other – Note Cards, Summer Starfruit Satin Ribbon, 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, Envelope Punch Board, Owl Builder Punch

Happy Anniversary

By | February 3, 2014

Hi there

Well I thought I wasn’t going to be able to do a blog post today – my computer decided to pack a sad on me and wouldn’t start up!  It came up with a ‘memory’ error message but after some help over the phone by my brother – we are back in business 🙂

So without further ado – I wanted a special wedding anniversary card to send to my good friend and bridesmaid for her 8th wedding anniversary.

The centre heart is made using a shaker frame and filling it with little hearts from the Owl Punch.  Here’s a closer view.

And here’s the inside of the card

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flowerful Heart, Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Red Gimmer Paper, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink – Real Red
Other – Hearts Collection Framelits, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Owl Builder Punch, Small Heart Punch, Shaker Frames, Window Sheets

Note Cards

By | February 2, 2014

Hi there

I hope you’ve been enjoying this beautiful weather – let’s hope it stays around for a bit longer.

Today’s cards were part of the Christmas gift I showed here.  The task for January was to choose three cards and finish them off with a sentiment, some ribbon and a rhinestone or two.

These cards are created using  the Note Cards & Envelope set on page 162 of the main catalogue.  You get 20 cards and envelopes for $11.95.  They’re slightly smaller than our standard cards but great for sending a little note to someone.  I think I might just have to make some of these up myself for when I need a card quickly.

I’d love to know which one of these is your favourite.

Texture Boutique Embossing Machine

By | January 30, 2014

Hi there

Stampin’ Up! have just released a new tool 🙂  It’s the Texture Boutique Embossing Machine.

It’s embossing made easy.  The Texture Boutique is the perfect, portable tool to create embossed cards, tags, embellishments and more.  Use it with our Stampin’ Up! exclusive Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  This portable machine only embosses – it does not cut.  It comes with two plates and a shim.  This is a great tool to have if you love to emboss.  If you would like to purchase one of these at only $59.95 please email me.  There are only a limited number available at the moment – so once those sell out you’ll have to wait until the new annual catalogue comes out in July.
