Try Stampin on Tuesday #41

By | November 16, 2011

Hi there

Well this weeks challenge came together so quickly – it was almost scary!  This has got to be the fastest one I’ve done so far.

CherylAnn has given us a great layout this week:

What do you think?  I really love the colours in this DSP and the stamp goes well with the combination.  I can’t wait to trial some of the other papers.
Supplies:
Stamp – Triple Treat Flower
Card Stock – Pool Party, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Ink – Soft Suede, Pool Party, More Mustard
DSP – Spice Cake
Punches – Fancy Flower, 5-Petal Flower, 1/2″ Circle, 2 3/4″ Circle
We have had some great projects over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  It’s not too late to join so if you want more details or to sign up click here.
I’ll be back soon with the project I created for Stampin Fun and Friends.
Take Care

Try Stampin on Tuesday #40

By | November 12, 2011

Hi there

I hope you are all having a good day.  We have just been to the garden centre and got all our summer vege plants – now to get them planted!

I made the Top 3 with last weeks sketch 🙂 – here is my badge
and here is the card I made.  Well done to the other two winners.

For this weeks sketch challenge I have combined it with the colour challenge CherylAnn gave us over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  The colour combo was Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Cherry Cobbler.

This is a ‘stamp free’ card for a change.  I will put the Christmas greeting on the inside once I decide which one to use 🙂  I have changed the layout slightly by overlapping my DSP the other way.  That’s the great thing with layouts – it’s there as a base.
Supplies:
Card Stock – Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
DSP – Cherry Cobbler Paper Stack, Summer Picnic & Windsor Knot (both well & truely retired!)
Other – Cherry Cobler Bakers Twine, Tissue Paper, Old Olive Ink, Dauber
Well I’m off to the dentist 🙁 – hope you have a good rest of the weekend.

Stampin Fun and Friends – Project #2

By | November 10, 2011

Hi there

I’m back on a roll with recreating the projects from this session over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  Our second project was a message board.  I’ve had a plain one above my craft desk for ages so thought I’d give it a makeover.  This is what I started with:

and this is my finished project:

I’ve rotated it from how I had it before and created 4 sections.  Now all I need to do is get some new thumb tacks – I might even jazz them up by stamping an image on PolyShrink and attaching it to the tack.  This looks SO much better than when I started and will brighten my craft space 🙂
Supplies:
DSP – Cheerful Treat
Card Stock – Melon Mambo, Concord Crush
Ribbon – Melon Mambo (retired), Lucky Limeade
Other – Cork Board, Scallop Envelop Die, Blossom Party Die, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Trio Flowers Punch (retired)
There are plenty more projects coming so why not join in the fun.  For more details and to join click here.
Thanks Robbie for a great idea.

Stampin Fun and Friends

By | November 9, 2011

Hi there

Well the first project for Christmas Dreams has been put up and I’ve already re-created it!  This project came at just the right time for me.  My nephew turns 13 on Saturday and wanted a DVD for this birthday.  Tracey has created a wonderful Movie Box that holds a DVD and room for popcorn!  This could also be used to hold a clear mounted stamp set – great hostess gift or for Christmas.

I just received my latest order last night which included Wild Wasabi Embossing Powder so I’ve used this for my stamp on the front – love it.

Supplies:
Stamp – Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Peach Parfait
DSP – Just Add Cake
Other – So Saffron Ribbon, Oval Die, Big Shot, Magnetic Strip (Non SU)

Thanks Tracey for a fantastic project.  If you would like to join in the fun at Stampin Fun and Friends click here to join.

Until next time – have a great rest of the week.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #39

By | November 6, 2011

Hi there

Well the weather here in New Zealand still can’t decide what season it’s meant to be.  We get a taste of Spring then Summer and back to Winter all within a few days!  I hope those in the deep south have managed to thaw out and that the snow has gone.

One of the girls at work is getting married on Friday so this week’s challenge has ended up as a wedding card.  We also give a gift voucher to staff when they get married and I have finally been able to use my Petite Pocket die for the voucher holder.  I have only used it to make boxes so far.  Her favourite colour is purple so I’ve made everything in Elegant Eggplant.

To create my card I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and added clear embossing powder then sponged over with Elegant Eggplant ink – I love this effect.  It doesn’t show up that well in the photo but I’ve stamped the ‘Love’ part again and punched it out using the large oval and adhered it with dimensionals.
I wanted to carry the theme through to the voucher holder so have stamped the same image using clear embossing powder.
For the fasteners on the back they have been embossed with clear embossing powder – almost burnt my fingers in the process! but they do look nice & glossy.
Supplies:
Stamp – You Are Loved
Card Stock – Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Ink – Elegant Eggplant
Other – Clear Embossing Powder, Decorative Label Punch, Large Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Sponge
If you haven’t signed up to the next session of Stampin Fun and Friends it’s not too late – just click here for more details.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Inlaid Embossing Technique

By | November 2, 2011

Hi

I needed two masculine birthday cards on Sunday so thought I’d do them both using the Inlaid Embossing technique.  This is a great way to use up scraps of card stock and create an effective card at the same time.

I’ve used a variety of circle sizes (I had some of these in my stash) and then run the card stock through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Folder – this has got to be my favourite folder.  I’ve attached the sentiments after this with dimensionals.
Supplies:
Stamp – On Your Birthday
Card Stock – Cajun Craze, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point
Ink – Cajun Craze
Other – Circle Punches, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals
Stamp – Punch Bunch (retired)
Card Stock – Night of Navy, Real Red, Bashful Blue, So Saffron (I think!), Whisper White
Ink – Marina Mist
Other – Circle Punches, Scallop Square Punch, Dimensionals
Hope the rest of your week goes well.

Crafters Anonymous

By | November 1, 2011

Hi

Last night I was able to attend the online class over at Crafters Anonymous.  Sharna had a wonderful card for us.  We had been given the list of supplies prior to the class and this is what we created – a free standing pop up card:

At the start of the class I had no idea what we were making but wanted to use my new stamp set Flower Fest – I think it ended up being a good choice as it works well with this design.  I’d also decided to use some of the new In Colours – Island Indigo, Pool Party and Lucky Limeade.  I ended up giving this to one of the girls at work who has an area of her desk dedicated to my crafting efforts!
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flower Fest, A Word for You
Card Stock – Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White
Ink – Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Cherry Cobbler, Riding Hood Red
Other – Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, Trio Flowers Punch, 1 1/4″ & 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Modern Label Punch, Lucky Limeade Ruffed Ribbon, Crop-A-Dile, Dimensionals, Blender Pen
Thanks Sharna for a great card idea.

FREE pass to give away plus Try Stampin on Tuesday #38

By | October 30, 2011

Hi there

Yesterday the Creative Inkers’ held their Christmas Extravaganza.  We had over 50 ladies attend and they created 5 fantastic projects.  This was my first extravaganza demonstrating a project – I must admit it felt funny being on the other side of the table!  We had a great time and I really enjoyed it.

I have finally got round to making up this weeks challenge over at Try Stampin on Tuesday.

I’ve chosen Fox & Friends for this layout – they fit nicely in a 1 1/2″ circle.  I’ve then used the 1 3/4″ circle to mat each image.  My card base is 5″ square.

Supplies:
Stamp – Fox & Friends
Card Stock – Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink – Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso
Other – Daffodil Delight Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/2″ & 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals
Don’t forget to leave me a comment to be in the draw to win a FREE pass to the next session of Stampin Fun and Friends.  I will be doing the draw Monday night.

Have a great week.

Try Stampin on Tuesday #36

By | October 15, 2011

Hi there

The year seems to be zooming by – this time in 10 weeks and it’s Christmas Eve!  I have made a few Christmas cards which I will hopefully get to post this coming week.

For this week’s TST challenge I’ve gone with a masculine theme – one of the guys at work is celebrating his birthday tomorrow.  I was a bit stutmped to start with – trying a few options with DSP scraps and finally settling with one of my favourite retired papers – Windsor Knot.  I love this colour combination.

and this is the sketch:

Supplies:
Stamp – Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
DSP – Windsor Knot (retired)
Markers – Old Olive, So Saffron, Chocolate Choip

I have been busy preparing my project for the next session over at Stampin Fun and Friends – Christmas Dreams.  This session runs from 8th November to 22nd November.  We had a great time in the last session and would love to have you join us.  If you are interested in joining click here for more details and to sign up.

It’s a big weekend of rugby here in Auckland – Wales vs France and Australia vs New Zealand in the semi finals.  Go the AB’s.

Have a great weekend.

Stampin Fun and Friends – 2nd Project

By | October 8, 2011

Hi there

Here is the second project that I designed for Autumn Artistry.  It’s a mini photo album using the 6 x 6 page protectors and a matching gift card.  I fell in love with French Foliage while making this project.  Here’s the album:

and the gift card outside & inside

The front of the card is done using the inlaid embossing technique – my favourite folder to use is the square lattice.  I used markers to ink the varigated images.
Our next session – Christmas Dreams – is starting on 8th November.  Watch this space for more info.
We are now down to the business end of the Rugby with the Quarter Finals starting tonight.  The AB’s play tomorrow night so I’m sure we’ll all be glued in front of the TV for that.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
See you soon.

Try Stampin on Tuesday – #35

By | October 7, 2011

Hi there

Well it’s a beautiful day in Auckland – it really feels like Spring has arrived.  There are more and more trees now with leaves so that’s got to be a good sign.

This weeks challenge over at Try Stampin on Tuesday is a good one.  I’ve flipped it over so that I could trial a new card style I saw over at Splitcoast.

Here is the layout:

and this is what I created – it’s called a double Z fold

This card is for a friends 2 year-old daughter and I don’t have any little girl stamps so thought I’d use Fox & Friends in the pinks.  I forgot to take a photo of the inside before writing in it!

Supplies:
Stamp – Fox & Friends, A Word for You
Card Stock – Pretty in Pink, So Saffron
Ink – Melon Mambo
DSP – Tea Party (retired)
Other – Melon Mambo Ribbon (retired), 2 3/8″ Scallop Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Diomensionals

I hope you all have a great weekend.  I have my first team training session tomorrow morning.  We’re doing swaps (Christmas theme) so check back tomorrow to see what I received – can’t wait.

Stampin Fun and Friends – my first project

By | October 2, 2011

Hi there

Well here is my first project for Stampin Fun and Friends.  I love making 3D projects so really enjoyed this one.

I’ve used the bleaching technique to create my own background.  Most of the boxes I make end up containing chocolate 🙂 and these are no different.  The tall one holds Whittakers Sante bars, the middle one holds mini Peanut Slabs and the small one holds Chocolate Squares.

If you’d like to make this project let me know and I can book a class.

Have a good week.
