Jar of Love Shaker Card – June Card Class

By | July 4, 2016

Hi there

Here we are in July and I haven’t shared the cards we made in June.  I fell in love with the Jar of Love bundle so thought I’d use this for my June card classes.  Both cards are CASED from the catalogue but with my own interpretation.  Don’t forget to use the catalogue for inspiration for your own creations.

The first card is based on the sample from the front cover of the catalogue.

Jar of Love - Cataloge CASE - June Card Class

I made a few changes to include dry embossing the front of the card base using the Fluttering Embossing folder and then adding the doily directly to the card front.  The colours for my ‘arrangement’ are Wild Wasabi for the ‘greenery’, Sweet Sugarplum/Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride/Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach for the flowers.  The outline of the jar was stamped in Bermuda Bay and the ‘water’ was Soft Sky.  The bow is stamped in Flirty Flamingo

The second card is based on the Shaker Card from page 74 of the catalogue.  Now this one has more ‘me’ than the ‘catalogue’ in it 🙂

Jar of Love - Shaker Card - June Card Class

I didn’t want the whole card to be the shaker so I made a shaker section that was adhered to the base of the card.  Again we had some dry embossing – love this new folder – Petal Burst.  Another new thing I love (well actually I love the whole catalogue) is the new Big Shot Platform.  The dry embossing seems to be so much clearer and the images more defined – highly recommend getting this.

To construct the card – take a piece of card stock 2 1/2″ x 4″ and cut the largest jar framelit out of the centre then sponge the card stock with Flirty Flamingo.  Adhere a piece of Window Sheet (2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″) to the back of your cutout.  On the front adhere you jar ‘lid’ which has been stamped in Crumb Cake – no fussy cutting required here as there is a coordinating framelit.  Take a Foam Adhesive Strip and adhere around the jar outline from the back.  Fill it with whatever you want – I used Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and the Confetti Stars punch.  Stamp your sentiment onto a piece of card stock 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″.  Peel the backing from the Foam Strip and adhere your card stock.  Now adhere this to the card front.  Finally add your stamped flowers and stem and some ‘bling’.

Shaker cards are easy to make and lots of fun.

Happy 4th of July to all our American friends.

Love and Affection One Sheet Wonder

By | July 3, 2016

Hi there

Have you every made a One Sheet Wonder?  Well last Sunday night I held a team training for my team – The Crafty Bears – via Facebook.  I had set us all some homework – stamp up a sheet of Whisper White or Very Vanilla with our chosen stamps then cut the card stock up and create some cards.  This technique is called a One Sheet Wonder.

I had the set Love and Affection on my desk so I decided to use this and the In Colors for my homework.  Here’s the sheet all stamped up:

Love and Affection - One Sheet Wonder

I’ve used four of the new In Colors – Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo. Sweet Sugarplum and Emerald Envy.

I still need to draw up a template for these cards so I can recreate them – I’ll try and post the template this week.  I was able to create six cards from this one sheet.
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 1

Card One
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 2
Card Two
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 3
Card Three
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 4
Card Four
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 5
Card Five
Love and Affection - OSW - Card 6
Card Six
In addition to the Love and Affection stamp set I used Cottage Greetings for some of the sentiments – this seems to be my ‘go to’ set at the moment.  The sentiments have been cut out using the new Oval Layering Framelits – this set of framelits includes ovals and scallop ovals that all layer together creating great mats.  A bit of ‘bling’ just lifts the cards.
I can’t decide which one of the six is my favourite – do you have one?  I’d love to hear which one you think stands out the best.

Baby Bear and Love and Affection Notecards

By | June 27, 2016

Hi there

June has been a busy month with the release of the new 2016-2017 Catalogue.  On Saturday I had a workshop for 11 ladies and used two new sets for the Make n Take – Love and Affection and the cute Baby Bear set.

The Notecards and Envelopes were the perfect go to for these projects – the prep has all been done for you :).  I love using the notecards – they come in a pack of twenty and are a handy size.

The Baby Bear set is actually a three step stamp rather than our usual two step.  You get so much more definition with three layers.  I’ve worked out it’s best to stamp the images in the reverse order – 3 – with the darkest ink (Soft Suede), 2 – with the mid tone ink (Crumb Cake) and 1 – with the lightest ink (Sahara Sand).  This way it’s easier to line the stamps up and you don’t need to use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Here’s my finished card:Baby Bear - Notecard Workshop - June2016

Isn’t he cute?  The bow is a two step and again I stamp it in reverse 2 – Marina Mist at full strength then 1 – Marina Mist stamped off.  There are so many different colour combinations you can use for your bear.  Watch this space for some different coloured bears.

The second card uses the Love and Affection stamp set which I teamed up with the new In Colours and Copper Embossing powder – love it.  I’ve also used one of the new Floral Affection Embossing folders for some texture on the card.  We have a new Big Shot Platform – and boy does it make a difference with your dry embossing.  The image comes out so much more defined and clearer – I love it.

And here’s a side view which really shows off the copper embossing powder.

Here’s another card I made using Sweet Sugarplum, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo

The ladies really enjoyed the afternoon and were asking when the next one was – I’d better get my creative thinking cap on 🙂

Playful Palette Starburst

By | June 23, 2016

Hi there

I thought it was time to show you some more of my OnStage Samples – these two cards use the Playful Palette DSP Stack and feature four of the five new In Colors – Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo and Peekaboo Peach.

The first card is creating using the ‘starburst’ technique and uses eight different designs of the paper.  There are 48 sheets in a DSP stack – tweleve double sided designs and you get four of each design.  One side is multi coloured and the other side is one of the above colours and Very Vanilla – there is also a Basic Black and Very Vanilla design.

OnStage - Starburst - front

To create this card I cut a piece of copy paper 5″ x 2 3/4″ and then I like to place my ‘triangles’ on top and have a play with the layout before adhering them down for good.  The washi tape covers the edge of the paper and gives a nice finish.  I have been using the Tags and Labels Framelits heaps lately for cutting out and matting my sentiments – you don’t have to worry about stamping the sentiment straight 🙂

OnStage - Starburst - inside

This second card uses three strips of DSP that are about 1 3/4″ wide.  I then cut the ‘Sweetheart’ from the bottom of the strip, mixed and matched them around then adhered the strip down and adhered the heart with dimensionals.  Another punch that could also be used would be the Elegant Butterfly.

Sheltering Tree – Happy Birthday

By | June 19, 2016

Hi there

It’s been a while since I used Sheltering Tree but it was the perfect stamp set to use for my brother’s birthday card last week.  He enjoys a good bike ride on a Saturday morning – 160km bike ride!  This set has so many components one of which is a bike 🙂
Sheltering Tree - Happy Birthday - Grant The colour inspiration for my tree above are the trees I pass on my way to work.  I’m fortunate to be able to drive through Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill Domain in the morning and see so many beautiful tree colours – it’s a great way to start the day.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Sheltering Tree, Endless Birthday Wishes
Card Stock – Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink – Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Momento Black

Catalogue Launch – the day after

By | June 12, 2016

Hi there

An apology – I forgot to post pictures from yesterday’s catalogue launch.  It was a busy ‘crafting’ day with a team training in the morning and then my catalogue launch in the afternoon.  I had six ladies attend and this is the card they made.

OnStage - DSP-Washi - front
The card base is the new Sweet Sugarplum which is one of my favourites.  They could each choose a piece of the new Painters Palette DSP stack.  This stack has 12 double-sided designs (4 of each design) and comes in a handy size of 6″ x 6″ (15.2cm x 15.2cm).  They could also choose which washi tape design they wanted.  The washi tape packs come with five designs and three different widths – 1cm, 1.3cm and 1.6cm
OnStage - DSP-Washi - inside
They also created a color chart so they could take home a sample of the new 2016-2018 In Colors.  I forgot to take a photo of the chart but it had a sample of card stock, ink and markers for all five colours.
Here are some pictures from the event.

Sitting Here – Happy Birthday Delys

By | June 10, 2016

Hi there

Yesterday was my friend and fellow demo’s birthday.  I hope you had a lovely day Delys.  It was a ‘special’ birthday but I didn’t want to plaster that all over the front of the card.  Instead I went with a new stamp set which I love called “Sitting Here”.  This is a great line art stamp which allows you to colour it in – that way every card using this set will be different.

I used the ‘masking’ technique to stamp the dog and his basket.  The cushions have been stamped separately then adhered to the ‘seat’.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Sitting Here, Cottage Greetings
Card Stock – Dapper Denim, Whisper White
Ink – Momento Black, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Other – Basic Pearls
Tomorrow I have my catalogue launch where I’ll be showcasing some new products and getting the ladies to create a card using the new In Colours.  Check back later tomorrow to see what they make.

Happy Birthday Cards #5

By | June 7, 2016

Hi there

Well this is the last of the birthday card posts.  These are the lovely handmade ones Phil received – some great ideas for when I’m stumped on creating masculine cards.  Again thank you for all the lovely cards we received.

This last card is from our neighbours – Jacob (6) and Toby (3 1/2)

I just love the art work.  If you can’t read the writing at the top it says “Bat-man and Robin in the Bat cave” 🙂

I’ll be back soon with some creations from the new 2016-2017 Catalogue.

Happy Birthday Cards #4

By | June 6, 2016

Hi there

It was so lovely receiving ‘snail mail’ for our birthday.  If you are yet to have your birthday and would love to receive a handmade card from me please email me your birth date and postal address.

This last card is from the lovely Shannon West who started the ‘I’m Bringing Birthdays Back’.  Shannon is the Demonstrator Training Manager at Stampin’ Up!  It was her birthday earlier in May and she received over 940 cards from demonstrators around the world.  Thank you Shannon for my card and the lovely words inside.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the cards Phil received.

The 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue has arrrived

By | June 1, 2016

Hi there

It’s a big day in the Stampin’ Up! calendar – our new 2016-2017 Annual Catalogue has finally arrived 🙂  There are SO many yummy new stamps and products in this catalogue.  If you haven’t got your hands on a copy yet please contact me and I’ll get one to you.

Back in April I was asked to present at our local OnStage Event run by Stampin’ Up! for demonstrators from around New Zealand.  It was a real privilege and I really enjoyed the challenge of speaking to 160+ ladies – it was great fun.  As part of my presentation – on the new 2016-2018 In Colors and the Playful Palette Suite (pg 118) – I made a number of samples to showcase the new colours.  So over the coming days I will show them to you plus some other samples using new stamp sets.

First up we have a card using the new In Colors – Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim

The stamp set here is called Painter’s Palette

The next two cards use 1″ squares of the new Playful Palette DSP Stack – 9 on the front and 3 inside.

There are 12 double-side designs in the paper stack so each card showcases one side of the paper

Don’t forget to checking back tomorrow to see more samples.
