Leaving Card Album

By | January 23, 2014

Hi there

One of the guys I used to work with is retiring at the end of this month.  I contacted my previous boss and said I’d like to make the leaving card (I used to make all the cards for my previous company) and this is what I created – it’s like a mini album.

And here it is all opened up – plenty of room for everyone to sign.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Word Play
Card Stock – Bravo Burgundy (retired), Pool Party Core’dinations
DSP – Sycamore Street (retired), Summer Smooches (Retired)
Other – Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder, Deco Labels Framelits, Postage Stamp Punch, Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon (retired)

Happy retirement John

Hexagon Hive Sneak Peak

By | January 22, 2014

HI there

This post may take me a while to type as I have a furry helper sitting on  my lap who is wanting attention and tickles every couple of seconds.

And she’s not even our cat!   Bella belongs to our neighbours but thinks she also lives here – for tickles and attention only.
Now on to today’s post.  I found a note pad lying around so thought I’d cover it with some paper from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue which starts next week.  (For every $110.00 you spend during the period 28 January to 31 March you get to choose a free product from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue).
My overlay is created with the new Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die from the Occasions catalogue and I LOVE it – you can expect to see more creations with this die.  No pad is complete without a matching pen.
Supplies:
Card Stock – Summer Starfruit, Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party
DSP – Sweet Sorbet
Other – Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die, Summer Starfruit Satin Ribbon, Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon (retired)

Catch you back soon with another creation.

Geometrical Sneak Peak

By | January 21, 2014

Hi there

If you’re in Auckland I hope you’ve survived the wild weather today – not a good hair day 🙂

Today’s card is another sneak peak from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue using a new set called Geometrical which also has a matching punch – saves so much time when you need to cut the stamped shapes.  I chose my colours from the matching designer series paper of this suite – see here for a sample.

 Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Geometrical, Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Bermuda Bay, Naturals White
Ink – Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Strawberry Slush, Black StazOn
Other – Triangle Punch, Clear Embossing Powder

Card from Phil

By | January 20, 2014

Hi there

As promised here is the wedding anniversary card Phil gave me.

We have this rule with good friends of ours.  Husbands are not allowed to give their wife a bought card (birthday, Christmas or Wedding Anniversary) – it must be a handmade card OR ELSE :).  So, when a card is required I get a call from my friends husband and she gets a call from Phil.  Thanks Deb for making such a lovely card.  I think I may CASE this for some of the wedding anniversaries I need to make cards for.

Happy Anniversary – 12 years

By | January 19, 2014

Hi there

Today is our 12th Wedding Anniversary 🙂  We have just got back from having a lovely breakfast in the sun at our local cafe and now plan to have a relaxing day together.

Here’s the card I gave Phil.  It uses three new products plus two that are carrying over from the Holiday Catalogue which finsihes at the end of this month.

I’m quite proud of myself for actually ‘using’ my new products – I usually buy DSP (and accessories) and then don’t want to cut into the paper as it’s so nice but I’m going to rectify that this year.
I received a lovely handmade card from Phil (thanks Deb) which I’ll show you tomorrow.
Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Perfect Pennants, Memorable Moments

Card Stock – Whisper White, Golf Foil Sheets, Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum
Ink – Gold Metallic Encore Pad, Real Red Ink
Other – Gold Embossing Powder, Clear Embossing Powder, Watercolour Wonder Designer Washi Tape

Sneak Peak … Perfect Pennants

By | January 18, 2014

Hi there

Here’s another sneak peak  of new products soon to be available from the Occasions Catalogue.  I am having so much fun with these new products and I’m sure you will too – not long to go 🙂

Today’s card showcases a new stamp set, Designer Series Paper, Framelit set and Washi Tape!

The stamp set and framelits are from the Pennants Bundle (buy both and save 15%).  The paper and washi tape are from the Retro Suite (there’s more products in this suite that I haven’t got yet).  I think I will be buying more products from the Retro suite – I love these colours.
The banner has one layer of dimensionals between the Tangerine Tango and Baked Brown Sugar layer and then I add two layers of dimentionals under the star for extra height.
I’ve been remembering to add something on the inside of my cards too – you can teach an old dog new tricks (it just might take longer than normal!)
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Perfect Pennants
Card Stock – Coastal Cabana, Tangerine Tango, Baked Brown Sugar, Very Vanilla and Whisper White
DSP – Retro Fresh DSP
Ink – Tangerine Tango, Tangerine Tango Embossing Powder
Other – Banners Framelits Dies, Retro Fresh This and That Designer Washi Tape, Dimenisonals, Two Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds

I managed to get my wedding anniversary card done for Phil so you’ll need to check back tomorrow to see that 🙂

Thank You cards

By | January 17, 2014

Hi there

Well it’s the weekend and a very special one at that.  On Sunday, Phil and I will have been married for 12 years – the best 12 years of my life :).  Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak some crafting time tomorrow as I haven’t had time to make him a card yet and I know he’s got one for me – handmade by my friend!

I CASED this layout from Dawn Griffith’s blog.  It’s hard to tell in the photo but I’ve added some Dazzling Diamonds for a bit of sparkle and texture.

I haven’t used this set as often as I’d planned to and I have heaps of ideas using it.  Maybe I should challenge myself to use a different stamp set each week and create 5 cards with it.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Oh, Hello
Card Stock – Whisper White
Ink – Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Wisteria Wonder, Black StazOn
Other – Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Dazzling Diamonds, Two Way Glue Pen

Well I hope this wind dies down and we get our summer weather back.  Catch you back here soon with some new creations.

Another Sneak Peak

By | January 16, 2014

Hi there

Just a quick post today as I had hoped to already be in bed by now as I had an early start this morning – never mind, crafting is more important than sleep 🙂

This card uses a stamp set and DSP from the new Occasions Catalogue available from 28th January.

And I even remembered to take a photo of the inside!  I think you’ll be seeing more of this stamp set and paper in the coming weeks.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets – Geometrical, Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Basic Black, Naturals White, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay
Ink – Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Black StazOn
DSP – Kaleidscope
Other – Triangle Punch, Black Embossing Powder, Dimensionals

Tape It Birthday

By | January 15, 2014

Hi there

I’m on a roll at the moment with my blogging – I hope I can keep it up 🙂

Today’s card uses a set that hadn’t seen the ink yet!  I hope to rectify this.  I wanted to use the same colour on the two longest stamps so I placed them on one clear block and stamped them at the same time – made quick work of stamping.

When I placed them on the block I made sure I still had room for another stamp to fit in between.  The colour combination comes straight from the Basic Black card in the Colour Coach.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Tape It, Label Love
Card Stock – Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink – Bermuda Bay, Basic Black, Smoky Slate
Other – Artisan Label Punch, Dimensionals

Happy Birthday Catherine

By | January 14, 2014

Hi there

Last Friday I showed you a card I’d made for the Mojo Monday challenge.  Well I ended up giving it to our neighbour for her birthday today.  I like to give a little edible gift with my cards and here’s what I made:

This was created by Sam Donald – a UK demo.  It holds three Whittakers Mini Slabs.  Sam’s one was fastened at the top with the Simply Styled Embellishments but mine was too full so I created handles with ribbon.  Here it is with the card:

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Another Great Year
DSP – Perfect Polka Dots
Ink – Coastal Cabana
Other – Pumpkin Pie 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Chalk Talk Framelits

Did you spot another new product on the little bag?

Happy Birthday Seb

By | January 13, 2014

Hi there

Tomorrow our friends eldest son turns 8 so this evening I dropped down his card and little gift.  Normally the kids are in bed when I go but with it being school holidays they were still up.  Mr 8 answered the door and quickly told me ‘It’s my birthday tomorrow’.   He was allowed to open his card early and there was much excitement from him and Mr 5 who said ‘Is this another awesome card?’  It’s one of the reasons I enjoy making cards.  I’ll let you decide if this is ‘another awesome’ card.

Now knowing there are four children in the house I thought these jelly beans won’t last long or go far so I made a box for the stockpile using the Envelope Punch Board.  You can refill the Sweet Treat Cup via the flap on the inside of the card without having to ruin the front.

And here’s the gift all together

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Bring on the Cake, Memorable Moments
Card Stock – Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit
DSP – Birthday Basics
Ink – Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, VersaMark
Framelits – Apothecary Accents, Deco Labels, Circles Collection
Other – Raspberry Ripple Satin Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Sweet Treat Cup, Envelope Punch Board, Blender Pen, Dimensionals

Butterfly Thank You

Hi there

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demo is that we get to pre-order product a month before a new catalogue is released.  Our new Occasions Catalogue is due to start on 28 January and I received my pre-order end of last week.  I managed to have a play with some of my new goodies this weekend so watch out for some ‘sneak’ previews in the coming weeks.

I’ve used one of the new products in today’s card – can you spot it?

On the last day of work last year I order some bean bags from Big Save Furniture in Manukau for work.  The assistant that helped me (over the phone) was so helpful I wanted to send her a card to say ‘Thanks’.  She went above and beyond her job – she even managed to get me free delivery 🙂
And here’s the inside of the card (I remembered to take a photo!)

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Papillon Potpourri, Four You
Card Stock – Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink – Calypso Coral
DSP – I Am Me
Other – Bitty Butterfly Punch, 1″ and 1 1/4″ Square Punch, Word Bubbles Framelits, Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon (retired), Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Dauber

Lasting Christmas Gift

By | January 11, 2014

Hi there

I finally got round to taking the photos of the Christmas gift our wonderful upline Jacque made for us.  We were able to choose which colour we wanted so I naturally chose one with yellow!

It’s such a cool gift that lasts for the whole year with specific tasks until May.  I’m already running behind as the first task was to pamper yourself with a relaxing bath – one problem for me – we don’t have a bath!  Never mind I’m going to be staying at Mum & Dad’s soon so can enjoy one there.
We’ve been given nine partially made cards and we need to complete them using the embellishments provided and send them to various people.

This is such a cool gift.  I will be starting my January task next week – you never know you may find a card in the mail from me 🙂

Mojo Monday #327

By | January 10, 2014

Hi there

What a beautiful day we’ve had here in Auckland – pity I was at work but it’s meant to be round for the weekend so all good 🙂

For today’s card I’ve used this week’s sketch from Mojo Monday.  I rotated the layout so that it would fit my stamp and my colour combo is straight from the colour coach for Coastal Cabana – love this colour.

Now this isn’t a colour combination I would have chosen myself but I think it goes pretty well together.  My colour coach is never far from hand.  I went with ribbon along the top which meant I couldn’t stamp directly onto it so I added my ‘ink spots’ by stamping on card stock them punching out with a flower punch from the Itty Bitty pack.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Perfectly Penned, Gorgeous Grunge
Card Stock – Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Whisper White
DSP – Polka Dot Parade
Ink – Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie
Other – Decorative Label Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon, Glue Dots

Well I’m off to my friends house to watch a movie while Phil heads out to Muriwai to take sunset photos – enjoy your evening.

Wishing You … Birthday

By | January 9, 2014

Hi there

Ok – here’s the last card that wasn’t blogged from last year!

This stamp set is my favourite from the Holiday Catalogue (which finishes 1 February 2014).  I’ve used it on 10 different styles of cards – it so versatile for such a small stamp set.

I CASE’d this card  from Victoria Rogers of Blue Jelly Stampin.  I love all the layering of the parcels.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Wishing You
Card Stock – Soft Suede, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White
Ink – Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party
Other – Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
