Mosaic Birthday

By | January 8, 2014

Hi there

I’m a very happy ‘aunt’ today as my 19 year old nephew returned form his OE this afternoon.  I’m sure he’s grown taller and that I haven’t shrunk.  I had to stand on tip toes for a hug!  It’s SO good to see him home.

Here’s a card I made for a friend’s birthday last month but never got round to blogging it.  I really like the black and vanilla of the paper and added a Cherry Cobbler bow for a touch of colour.  I forgot to take a photo of the inside (again) which had the greeting.  The card base was Vanilla and I had matted another piece of Vanilla with the Black – it looked really cool with the greeting stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Supplies:
Stamp – Mosaic Madness
Card Stock – Very Vanilla, Basic Black
DSP – Modern Medley
Ink – Smoky Slate
Other – Mosaic Punch, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Rhinestones, Dimensionals

3D gift box

By | January 7, 2014

Hi there

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting fellow Aussie Demo – Debbie Blake who was in port for the day.  Debbie and her husband were on a cruise that docked in Auckland for the day so a group of Auckalnd demos (plus Rob & Phil) met her for lunch.  It was so nice to be able to catch up in person.  Debbie gave us each a gorgeous gift – filled with a Caramello Koala!  I will definitely be recreating this cute little box.

Thank you so much Debbie and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your cruise.

Don’t forget the “Whole lot of Love” promotion is on until 27 January.  Check out my post here for more details.

Colour and Sketch challenge

By | January 5, 2014

Hi there

It’s hard to believe but my two weeks of holidays is drawing to an end – it’s back to work tomorrow.  It’s been a very relaxing time catching up with family and friends.

Today’s post combines a colour challenge (CTD273) and a sketch challenge (MOJO326).  There were two options for the sketch either a round or a square card.  I haven’t made a round card for ages so thought I’d go with that and here’s what I came up with:

I haven’t used Tempting Turquoise for ages and it was good to get it out again.  It goes so well with the two shades of grey.  This card is perfect for my friend’s birthday this week as she loves blue.  I’ve also made a matching note pad as a wee gift to go with the card.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flower Shop, Best Dad Ever (retired)
Card Stock – Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink – Tempting Turquoise
DSP – I am Me
Other – Tempting Turquoise Brads (retired), Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Pansy Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Chevron Embossing Folder, Circles Collection Framelits, Small Scallop Rotary Cutting Blade, Dimensionals

ColorQ #222

By | January 4, 2014

Hi there

Wow is it hot and muggy today – almost too hot to craft!  We have just been out for a picnic lunch at Waiti Bay, east of Kawakawa Bay and it was lovely.  Great to see so many families out enjoying the water and being together.

Another of my New Year’s Resolutions was to enter into challenges so yesterday I had a look to see what was going and fell in love with the colour combo over at ColourQ.  This combo of Black, Grey. Gold and White was perfect for the card I wanted to create – an engagement card for my niece who got engaged just before Christmas :).  It was also a chance to ink up my new stamp Flowerfull Heart.

I was really pleased with how this turned out – I hope Rebecca likes it.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Flowerfull Heart, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Card Stock – Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Other – Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Deco Labels Collection Framelits, Hearts Collection Framelits, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Gold Embossing Powder, VersaMark, Heat Gun, Gold Metallic Encore Pad, 5/8″ Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals
Well I’m off to make another card for a friends birthday – check back soon to see what I create.

Thanks – and a challenge

Hi there

The other day I had a text from a customer/friend saying she had just tried a yummy colour combo of Wisteria Wonder, Tangerine Tango and Pistachio Pudding.  Wisteria Wonder is not a colour I’ve used much so I thought I’d give it a go as well and here’s my creation.

I played around for a while with the layout and finally settled on this.  The set works really well with the colour combo and I love it – thanks Steph.
Supplies:
Stamp Set – Six-Sided Sampler, Fabulous Phrases
Card Stock – Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White
Ink – Wisteria Wonder, Tangerine Tango, Pistachio Pudding
Other – Hexagon Punch

Happy Wedding Anniversary

By | January 2, 2014

Hi there

A couple of weeks ago it was our friends 32nd wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for them.

At the time I didn’t own any suitable stamps (have since bought the Flowerful Heart stamp) so used texture and shapes to create the card – even my sentiment is a retired one!  I was really pleased with how it turned out and they loved it.
Supplies:
Stamp – A Word for You (retired)
Card Stock – Real Red, Whisper White, Red Glimmer Paper
Ink – Real Red
Other – Hearts Collection Framelits, Small Heart Punch, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Dauber

Happy New Year

By | January 1, 2014

Hi there

I hope you had a good New Years Eve and are ready for 2014.

I got a bit behind in my blogging last year so my New Years Resolution is “to blog more often”.  I will try and blog on a more regular basis so to start off here’s my first one for the year (with a card from last year).

Yesterday was a friends birthday and here is her card.  I love this stamp and recreated one of my earlier cards but used a different sentiment stamp.

I liked the border of this stamp from the set Hello, Lovely but the words inside didn’t really go with the card so I used my Midnight Muse marker and inked just the border.  I then chose another favourite senitment set (Made for You which is retired) and stamped that inside using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.

Supplies:
Stamp Set – Blooming with Kindness, Hello, Lovely, Made for You (retired)
Card Stock – Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Ink/Markers – Midnight Muse, Pool Party, VersaMark
Other – Vellum Card Stock, Clear Embossing Powder, Delicate Designs Folder,Large Scallop Edgelit, Midnight Muse Satin Ribbon, Glue Dots, Decorative Label Punch, Blender Pen

Last post for 2013

By | December 31, 2013

Hi there

Well here we are on the last day of 2013.  It’s been a year of change – some good and some not so good.  The positives are I attended my first convention in May and had a ball, I started a new job in July and love it and we paid off our mortgage :).  One of the not so good things were we had three deaths in the family – the hardest one being my cousin at aged 60.  It has her little grandsons 5th birthday earlier this month and this is the card I made for Mum & Dad to send him.

I love these cute balloons and they add an easy layer of dimension to a card.  I keep forgetting to take photos of the inside of my cards – maybe I’ll be better next year!
Supplies:
Stamp set – Sketched Birthday
Card Stock – Naturals White, Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, Basic Gray, Gumball Green, Bermuda Bay
Ink – Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, Early Espresso, Black StazOn
DSP – Birthday Basics
Other – Small Oval Punch, Owl Builder Punch, Calypso Coral Bakers Twine (retired), Circle Collection Framelits, Dimensionals, White Chalk Marker
Well I hope you have a lovely New Years Eve and here’s to a great 2014.
Thank you for visiting my blog 🙂

Tag It Christmas Cards

By | December 23, 2013

Hi there

Well today is the first day of my holidays and I’m loving it. I am already starting to feel relaxed.  Yesterday afternoon we headed out to Kariotahi to catch up with Phil’s relatives that are over from the States.  It was so nice to see them again.

Here are that last of my Christmas cards for 2013.  Both these cards have been CASED from Deena Boos – I kept the first card pretty much the same as hers although I added a bow (love my bows tied with my bow maker) instead of tying a knot.

And the second one I changed from a Halloween theme to a Christmas theme and colour scheme.

Supplies:
Card One
Stamp – Tag It
Card Stock – Gumball Green, Whisper White
Ink – Cherry Cobbler
DSP – Season of Style Paper Stack
Other – Gumball Green Satin Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Chalk Talk Framelits

Card Two
Stamp – Tag It, Gorgeous Grunge
Card Stock – Old Olive, Whisper White
Ink – Cherry Cobbler
Other – Season of Style Washi Tape, Chalk Talk Framelits, Dimensionals

Well only two more sleeps till Christmas 🙂

Double Mosaic Madness

By | December 15, 2013

Hi there

With Christmas just around the corner I thought I’d better blog two cards in the one post otherwise I’m never going to show you everything before THIS Christmas.  I think my New Years resolution will be to blog on a more regular basis.

Now I’m not sue who the original creator was of this layout as I’ve seen so many on the web – but whoever it was ‘thank you’ for such a cool use of the Mosaic Madness set and punch.  I used my colour coach to decide which ‘greens’ I’d use.

Supplies:
Stamp – Mosaic Madness
Card Stock – Whisper White, Read Red, Early Espresso, Red Glimmer
Ink – Garden Green, Old Olive, Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz
Other – Mosaic Punch, Petite Pennants Builder Punch, Thinlits Circle Die
This second card is one that I cased from  Rachel Chamberlain.  I changed the colours and used the Silver ribbon instead of bakers twine.

Supplies:
Stamp – Mosaic Madness, Wishing You
Card Stock – Whisper White, Midnight Muse
Ink – Gumball Green, Real Red Midnight Muse, Silver Metallic Encore
Other – Mosaic Punch, Silver 1/8″ Ribbon, Rhinestones

We’ve had beautiful weather this weekend – it’s been really hot.  This afternoon we had big crashes of thunder but no rain.

Well this is the last week of work for 2013 – I hope you all have a great week.

Clearance Rack is coming

By | December 9, 2013

Hi there

Some of you may remember that this time last year Stampin’ Up! had a fabulous sale of retired products – well they’re doing it again starting tomorrow – Tuesday 10 December.  Check back tomorrow morning for more details of what’s on sale (some things will be heavily discounted).

As these items are ‘while stocks last’ you will need to be in quick to avoid missing out.  Last year things sold out really quickly.  To avoid missing out I would suggest you set up an online account now in my store so you can order directly.  Just click on the YellowBear underneath the ‘Shop Now’ button on the left handside of my blog or click here.  You can email me if you want but I can’t guarantee that when I place my order on Wednesday 11th stock will still be available.

If you have any questions about setting up an account just give me a call.

Happy Birthday Helen

By | December 8, 2013

Hi there

Yesterday it was a fellow demo’s birthday.  Now I have never me Helen in person but I’ve chatted with  her on our FB demo site and I wanted to send her a card for her birthday.  Being a Stampin’ Up! demo means I get to meet so many people who also share the love of papercrafting and it’s great to be able to share their special day with a handmade card.  I hope you had a great day Helen and hope to meet you in person soon.

I’m not sure if you can see from the photo but the Cherry Cobbler card stock has been embossed with my latest Embossing Folder – Pretty Print.  I think embossing (dry or heat) is my favourite technique.

Supplies:
Stamp – Lacy and Lovely, Label Something
Card Stock – Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler
DSP – Season of Style DSP Paper Stack
Ink – Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso
Other – Pretty Print Embossing Folder, Artisan Label Punch, 1″, 1 3/4″ and 2 1/2″ Circle Punch

Season of Style DSP meets Wishing You

By | December 4, 2013

Hi there

Here’s another Christmas card I’ve made which I CASED from one of my favourite Australian demos – Marelle Taylor – Thanks Marelle for yet another great card idea.  I used the greeting from the Wishing You stamp set which has been my ‘go to’ set for this years Christmas cards.

This card was great as I managed to use up the off cuts I had from other projects I’ve made using this paper.  The DSP measures 4cm x 7cm.  The background mat measures 7 1/2 cm x 13 1/2 cm.
Supplies:

Stamp – Wishing You
Card Stock – Old Olive, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Ink – Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder
DSP – Season of Style DSP Paper Stack
Other – Apothecary Accents Framelits, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Crop-A-Dile (retired)
