Inspiration Challenge – Stampin Fun and Friends

By | August 2, 2011

Hi there

It’s a beautiful day here in Auckland – let’s hope it stays that way as I’m sick of the cold & wet weather.

Today’s post is for our Inspirational Challenge over at Stampin Fun and Friends.  I struggled with this but finally last night I got an idea 🙂  I also needed to make a card for one of the guys at work who is about to celebrate his 15th wedding anniversary.  My thought was – flowers from the garden picked for a special occasion.  This works well as the theme of this round is Special Occasions.  I love this stamp set – it works so well for so many occasions.  To colour in I’ve used ink pads and blender pens.  If you’d like to join us at Stampin Fun and Friends click here for details.  Here is our inspiration photo:

and here is my card:

Supplies:
Stamps – Loads of Love, Loads of Accessories. A Word for You
Card Stock – So Saffron, Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Watercolour Paper
Ink – Basic Black, Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi
Other – Blender Pens

Stampin Fun and Friends

By | July 31, 2011

Hi

Well I’ve had a busy weekend recreating the projects we have so far on Stampin Fun and Friends.  It’s not too late to join in the fun and I’m sure that once you see my photo’s you’ll want to join.  So on with the projects – this may be a long post.

The first one is from Amy and here’s my recreation.  This was such a neat project to create.  I’ve filled my milk cartons with mini peanut slabs (each bottle holds 3)

The second project is from Tracey who I met last week.  This is another great project using the Fancy Favour Die.  I’m going to fill the box with choclates.
The third project is from Tanya.  This is a great layout for a masculine card – love the colour combination very clean and simple.
The fourth project is from Robbie.  This layout was perfect timing as I needed to do a baby girl card for one of the guys at work who has just become a dad.
The fifth project is from Kristen.  I love chocolate so this was a good one to make.  I’ve teamed it up with my card for the colour challenge and this weeks TST challenge.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my project.  If you’ve liked any of these projects and would like to join us click here for more details.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.  Have a great week.

Try Stampin on Tuesday # 24

By | July 24, 2011

Hi

Yesterday afternoon we had the Creative Inkers’s winter extravaganza.  We made five fantastic projects – thanks to the ladies who produced this great afternoon.  I will try & take some photos later of the projects.

Well here is this weeks challenge for Try Stampin on Tuesday.  This is the fourth challenge I have completed this week – WOW!  Not sure where that burst of energy came from 🙂  Thanks to CherylAnn who provides these great layouts week after week.

This week I wanted to use a colour combo that I haven’t used before so headed for the In Colours.  I used Poppy Parade as my base and then everything just flowed together so easily.  Here’s the layout:

and the finished card

I think my favourite die has to be Blossom Party – it has so many different uses.  I’m not sure what sentiment to use for this – leave me a comment with your suggestions.
Supplies:
Stamp – Pocket Silhouettes
Card Stock – Poppy Parade, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White
DSP – Urban Garden, Windsor Knot
Other – So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon, Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Blossom Party, Dimensionals
I’m really looking forward to the next round of Stampin Fun & Friends starting on the 25th – if you haven’t already joined check out the details over at CherylAnn’s blog.

I love this stamp set – it’s so versatile.  Each picture has a combination of the colours.

Stamping411 – # 212

By | July 21, 2011

Hi

I thought I’d have a go at another challenge this week – Stamping411.  I have often visited this site but have only got round to doing one other challenge.

Stamping411 give you potential measurements to use to create the various layers but I chose my own.  I already had a trimmed top note cut out that I wanted to use and a thinner strip of Tempting Turquoise so went from there with the rest of the measurements.  Here is this weeks layout:
And here is my finished card:
I love the bright colours and am really pleased with how this came together.

Gift Wallet

By | July 16, 2011

Here is the gift wallet I made for Cameron’s leaving present.  Our company has a policy that when a staff member gets married we give them a Farmers voucher.  For Cameron we decided that Canadian cash was more appropriate.  So I made this wallet to hold the loot – we also gave him cash as his leaving gift.

This wallet was based on a project that the very talented Tracey Old presented at the latest round of UStamp with Dawn & Friends.  I modified some of the measurements to fit the money.

I’m sure I’ll be making this project again – thanks Tracey.

Supplies:
Card Stock – Old Olive, Baja Breeze (textured)
DSP – Urban Garden
Ribbon – Baja Breeze Striped Grosgrain
Dies – Top Note, Scallop Envelop
Other – Fern adhesive (Warehouse Stationery)

Try Stampin on Tuesday #23

By | July 16, 2011

Hi

Well it’s that time again to post my card for this weeks challenge.  I found this layout REALLY hard to pull together.  I lost count of the combinations I tried!  I knew which stamp I was using straight away but the colour combination & materials to use did not flow easily 🙁

Here is the sketch:

I used this sketch to create a wedding card.  One of the guys from work (who used to be my next door neighbour!) is moving to Canada to live and is getting married on the 30th July.  We had a special breakfast for him yesterday and a presentation.  I’d left it to the last minute to make this card as I had been busy making his leaving card & gift (will post the gift wallet later).  So here is my final card:

I was pleased with the final result!

Supplies:
Stamp – Fun & Fast Notes
Card Stock – Very Vanilla, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, Gold (Non SU)
Water Colour Paper
Ink – Elegant Eggplant
Other – Gold Embossing Powder, Two Step Owl Punch

If you haven’t signed up to be part of the next round of Stampin Fun and Friends click here for more details.  The earlybird price of CAN$15 is only valid until Monday 18 July.  This round will include a swap 🙂 – they are so much fun.

Have a great day.

Crafters Anonymous – Star Card

By | July 13, 2011

Hi

On a Monday night I try to join in the online class at Crafters Anonymous.  This week Sharna took the class.  It was her first time and she did a fantastic job – well done Sharna.  We are given a list of supplies needed for the class and then we follow along via ‘Chat’ with the instructions.  This week we ended up making a star card.  I have finally got round to taking a photo of my attempt.  I was really pleased with this – another one to add to the ‘fancy fold’ department.

It took a bit of playing around to get my stripes in the right direction 🙂  To make the matt for the front greeting I cut two Decorative Labels out of Pumpkin Pie then cut them in half (one lengthwise & the other heightwise) then adhered to the back of the greeting to give an additional frame.
Supplies:
Stamp – Bring on the Cake
Card Stock – Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
DP – Washington Apple
Punches – Decorative Label, Corner Small

Tart & Tangy Note Set

By | July 9, 2011

Hi

In the last round of UStamp with Dawn & Friends Paula Dobson showed us this great little note set using the Tart & Tangy stamp set.  I have finally got round to recreating it to go with the card I made here.

The gift set contains a Post-It note pad with mini gel pen and some paper clips decorated with images from the Tart & Tangy set.  I managed to source the mini gel pens from The Warehouse (they come in a pack of six for about $3.50 – not bad value).  The paper clips are from the local dollar shop.  I used markers to ink up the stamps for the paper clips.  It was such a great little project – thanks Paula 🙂
Supplies:
Stamp – Tart & Tangy
Card Stock – Old Olive, Real Red, Whisper White
DSP – Summer Picnic
Markers – Old Olive, Real Red, Chocolate Chip
Ribbon – Real Red Striped Grosgrain 1/2″
Punches – 1 3/8″ Circle, 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle
Other – Red Paper Clips, Acetate, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Mini Gel Pens
Keep warm and go the Crusaders!

Try Stampin on Tuesday #22

By | July 8, 2011

Hi there

Well winter has certainly arrived in Auckland.  It’s been really cold the last couple of days and in true Auckland style we had all seasons in one day – thunder, sun, wind, rain, hail.  The only thing missing was snow (which we don’t get here thank goodness).

While driving home on Wednesday night I was thinking what stamp to use for this weeks challenge.  I knew it needed to fit inside a circle so that narrowed it down a bit.  I then thought of the hedgehog from Fun & Fast Notes.  This poor old stamp had not seen ink even though I’ve had this set for awhile!  So out he came and I think he’d be pleased with how I used him – I was :).  This was our sketch:

and this is my card:

I’m still trying to use up my stocks of retired DSP.  This DSP is from Tea Party and the colour is Almost Amethyst.  I used  my old colour coach to come up with the combination – Rose Red, Always Artichoke & So Saffron.  I embossed the image and stamped it onto watercolour paper so that I could use ink pads and blender pens to give depth to the hedgehog – you can almost feel his prickles!  I’ve only used Early Espresso for the hedgehog’s body – just not as much on the pen for the centre of the body.
Supplies:
Stamp – Fun & Fast Notes
Card Stock – Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Whisper White, Watercolour Paper
DSP – Tea Party
Ink – Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Rose Red
Ribbon – So Saffron 5/8″ Grossgrain
Punches – 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle, Modern Label, Word Window
Other – Circle Scissor (2″ circle), Black Embossing Powder
Don’t forget to check out my earlier post here for details on how to win a FREE pass to the next round of Stampin Fun and Friends.
Have a good weekend and if you’re in NZ keep warm & dry!

Totally Tess – Fancy Fold

By | July 4, 2011

Hi

It’s been a beautiful day here in Auckland and at lunchtime I went for a walk around the block.  The only problem was by the end my feet were warm but my ears & hands were frozen!

Last weekend at SENZ I made a Fancy Fold card with Bron and thought I’d recreate it with a feminine feel.  This is such a neat card style and really quick to make.  I’ve used one of my favourite stamps – Totally Tess.

Now all I need to do is make a little 3D gift and I’m done.

Supplies:
Stamps – Totally Tess, Bring on the Cake
Card stock – Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Whisper White
Ink – Perfect Plum
DSP – Cottage Garden
Other – Watercolour Pencils, Blender Pens, Trio Flower Punch

Don’t forget to check out my post here to enter for a free pass for Stampin Fun and Friends which starts in a couple of weeks.  If you get stuck with working out what stamps I’ve used check out some of the Christmas pages of the current catalogue 🙂

Thanks for visiting my blog
