Framelits & Bordering on Romance

Hi there

I’ve had a great birthday weekend – thanks to those that have sent messages :).  One of the gifts I got was Bordering on Romance so last night I was able to put ink to stamp and this is what I came up with.

To get the shape for the bottom I covered half of the second to biggest framelit with the cutting plate then ran it through the Big Shot.  I used makers to colour it in.
 
 
Then this afternoon I did another card but this time I used Watercolour Crayons.

I’d love to know which one you prefer – markers or watercolour.

Happy Birthday to Phil & Me

Hi there

Well today is my husbands birthday and my birthday!  I so love sharing the day with him.  Last night I had to banish him from the office so that I could make his card.  I really struggled to decide what sort of card to make for him.  In the end I’ve gone with a fun one.

I thought this sentiment and stamp worked well together.  We always laugh that Phil had to wait for me to grow up as he’s twelve years older than me.

Accordian Flower Card

Hi there

Here is a card I made the other night to go with these gifts for another colleague at work.  I have seen heaps of cards using this accordian style flower and thought it was about time I tried one myself.  I followed instructions from Heather Summers blog.

It was really easy to make using the Simply Scored scoring tool.  I cased my card but now can’t find the link to give credit – if you know who it is please let me know.

May Birthdays

Wow I can’t believe it’s so long since I posted.  I have still been creating but just haven’t got round to posting my creations.

May is a very busy month for me birthday wise – here are some of the cards/gifts I’ve made for some of my work colleagues.

The recipient of this gift is gluten intolerant so I filled her bag with gluten free goodies.

This next gift card is a variation of one I saw on Anna’s blog.

 I’ve made my base out of card stock rather than square envelopes.

 
I had a scallop envelope already cut out that had been sitting on my desk which I wanted to use so adapted the width for it to fit.  I’ve inserted a hand made voucher inside the envelope – lunch at a cafe 🙂

This is such a cute project.  I now want to trial it using an extended scallop envelope so that it will fit a credit card size gift voucher.

Mothers Day

What another fabulous day we’ve had here in Auckland – I am loving the sun.

Sorry – this is a long post as it combines all Mothers Day cards.  This week at Crafters Anonymous we made the most amazing handbag which I’m giving to my MIL.  Today I made a card to go with it.

It was so cool to make – can’t wait to trial some more now that I know what I’m doing 🙂
I don’t own Concord Crush ink but as lucky enough to borrow it from Julia and while I had it I stamped some images from Triple Treat and Punch Posy (see below card) to have on  hand.  So that it’s not too overpowering I’ve alternated the colours between the three flowers.  The middle one has dimensionals for all layers whereas the other tow only have it for the top layer.

Even though Mum isn’t really a ‘pink’ girl I wanted to use this paper as I love the brightness of it.  I’m sure she will love it.  It uses the new Edgelits products – dies and embossing folders.  For the centre of the flower I used the eyes from the Owl punch.  I must put the Itty Bitty Punches on my wishlist.

Sympathy Cards

Over the weekend I had to make two sympathy cards for people at work – they are not the easiest of cards to create but I was pleased with both of them.  I needed one feminine & one masculine one.

For this one I used markers straight onto the stamp

and for this one I inked the image then used my watercolour crayons to add the colour.  I love how the colouring turned out.

Stampin Fun & Friends Colour Challenge

As promised here is the card I made for the colour challenge over at Stampin Fun & Friends.

I have cased this from the very talented Heather Summers – isn’t it a cool layout.  It was so quick to make.  Check out her blog for the instructions.  Thanks Heather for sharing this with us.
I was glad to have a quick card to make as I had a very frustrating evening with my computer!  I have just got a new computer and when I went to ‘tutu’ my card realised I didn’t have Photoshop loaded.  After loading it on I had to remember how to recreate my signature as I couldn’t find the original one on my old computer.  An hour or more later …. this card was ready to blog by which time I’d had enough hence it’s up now during my lunch break.  I think I have finally got everything transferred that needs to be and I can gain my craft space back on my desk (For the last few days I’ve had two laptops occupying the space).

Crafters Anonymous

Hi there

Crafters Anonymous is an online class and it’s so much fun.  You never know what you will make.  We are given a list of supplies and then follow instructions via a ‘chat’ session.  This week Julia took the class and this is what we made:

It’s called a Sour Cream Container.  This one uses a 5 1/2″ square of Spice Cake DSP.  Last night I also made another two in different sizes – 6 3/4″ square
 and an 8″ square

And here they all are together
They are all filled with various types of chocolate 🙂 ready to give away as a birthday gift to one of the girls at work.

Masculine Birthday Card & Gift

As promised here are two masculine cards I made this week using the Well Worn DSP.

For the second card I also made a small gift to go with it.  Inside the card was some money to buy a book.  What goes with sitting down and reading a book – a cuppa and something to eat.
I came across the pattern here (under Instruction Sheets then Teabag & Cookie holder) while looking for something else.  Thanks Chiaki for sharing this with us & Debi Pippin for creating it.  It was quick and easy to make and requires only your Simply Scored tool (loving it) and some scissors.  I filled the middle with chocolates but you could put some biscuits in there.

NZSU Ribbon Challenge

Hi there

I have finally got around to making a card for this months challenge over at the NZSU blog.  The challenge was to include ribbon somewhere on your project.  I’d seen a bow ages ago which is made using a brad (here) so thought – now is the time to trial it.  The instructions were really easy to follow and I think I might give it a go with wider ribbon.

I have used the new Adorning Accents Edgelits Die and Embossing Folder from the current Autumn/Winter mini.  Once I had cut the top layer of DSP I ran it through the Embossing Folder close to the edge for more depth.  I have some more cards to show you soon all using the lovely DSP from SAB.  I have been using it sparingly trying to make it last.

Team Swaps

Hi there

Yesterday we had team training at Jacque’s and also did swaps.  Swaps are a great way to get ideas – this time we had to use product from the new Autumn-Winter mini.  For my swap I made a Post It note holder:

I ended up using 7 things from the new mini – Simply Scored, Twitterpated DSP, Adorning Accents Edgelits Die & Embossing Folder,Mixed Bunch stamp set, Blossom Punch and Cherry Embossing Powder.
The base is 4″ x 7″ scored at 3 1/4″ and 3 3/4″.  I started off with a 3 1/2″ x 2 7/8″ piece of DSP then cut it using the Edgelits die – the smaller piece for the front and the bigger piece for the inside.  I then adhered each piece of DSP to a 3″ x 3 5/8″ piece of card stock.  Using the matching embossing folder place it just above (front) or below (inside) the edge of the DSP (Note to self – make sure the raised part of the folder is on the bottom) then run it through the Big Shot.  Attach the ribbon to the base BEFORE adding the inside pieces 🙂
I stamped the image in Riding Hood Red then using my VersaMark pen coloured in the centre of the flower before adding scented embossing powder.  The scent lasts for ages.  I stamped an image at the beginning of March and it still smells.  To give my flower more depth I adhered it with a dimensional.
We also made altered rubbish bins using baby forumla tins.  You could use all sorts of tins to recreate this project.  Here is my finished bin:

Hasn’t the weather been amazing – beautiful crisp sunny days and they say it should be this way until the end of April 🙂

This week over at Crafters Annonymous Kristine McNickle taught an amazing gift card.  I wasn’t able to attend but as a member I still have access to the tutorials.  If you’d like to join Crafters Annonymous or know more about them drop me an email.

This design was perfect as I needed to make an engagement card & gift holder for this Saturday and now I have a project that is an all in one – got to love that.

Kangaroo Punch Art

Hi there

Well I still haven’t started my swaps yet but last night I made this cute punch art card.

One of the guys in our Sydney office has just got his Australian Permanent Residency so I thought I’d make him a card.  I had helped him get ALL the paperwork together so it was a relief to know it’s been approved.
I got the idea from Dawn Olchefske.  It was a fun card to make and I’m sure the recipient will like it.  He’s coming over tomorrow.
