Wedding Anniversary Card – for me

By | January 20, 2019

Hi there

Yesterday I shared the card I made Phil for our wedding anniversary and today I have the card that he gave me.  We have this rule in our house that you aren’t allowed to give a bought card – it has to be hand made.  In the past he’s had help from my friend and mother with getting them to make a card for him to give me.  He now has a new ‘card maker’ supplier – one of my team members :).  I just love this years card that she has made – thank you xx

This card is created with new products from the Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration brochure.  The main image is from a set called Amazing Life (pg 28 OC) and has a variety of images and sentiments that cover a range of occasions.  The butterflies are from the stamp set Butterfly Gala which is part of the Gingham Gala Suite on page 35 of the Occasions Catalogue.

Next up is the Designer Series Paper which is one of the FREE items you can choose when you place an order of NZD110 or more between now and 31 March.  Botanical Butterfly DSP (pg 9 SAB) is 12″ x 12″ paper and you get 2 each of 6 double-sided designs.  One side is coloured and the other is black and white.  The beautiful Daffodil Delight Organdy ribbon is also another of the FREE items during Sale-A-Bration – check out pg 7 to see the other four colours that come in this pack.

This is the inside of the card (minus the words from Phil) – the stamped sentiment is also part of the Butterfly Gala stamp set.  There are four different butterfly designs in the two sizes and five sentiments.

It’s been a lovely weekend celebrating and remembering our special day.

Until next time …

Happy Anniversary – 17 years

By | January 19, 2019

Hi there

Today Phil and I are celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary :).  According to Mr Google the gift for 17 years is furniture so I thought I’d use ‘furniture’ as my theme for his card.  Now you might think – what are you going to create with that in mind.  Straight away I thought of Seasonal Layers Framelits which has what we in New Zealand call a Cap Cod chair (I think the US call them Adirondack chairs).

I then had to think how to ‘display’ my chairs – so grabbed the Waterfront set and got stamping my scene.  The ‘water’ is stamped with Pool Party and the ‘sand’ is done with Crumb Cake.  To give some depth to the scene I added the palm trees – trunks stamped in Early Espresso and greenery with Old Olive.

The drinks table is die cut from a scrap of Wood Texture DSP I had and is the bottom bit of the chair.  The drinks are stamped with Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist.

To make the card a bit more romantic I added the small heart die from the Apron Builder Framelits in Real Red and the card base is Real Red.  The ‘Happy Anniversary’ sentiment is from one of my ‘go to’ sets – Beautiful Bouquet and is stamped in Memento Black.

I also took a photo with ‘the Bears’ as they were the inspiration for the colour of the chairs 🙂

Well I’d better sign off and go and get my ‘glad rags’ on as we’re heading out for dinner tonight to celebrate.

Until next time …

If you wanted to recreate this project you would need:

  • Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP – 148182 – $23.00

All My Love Suite – OnStage Sample

By | January 13, 2019

Hi there

Today’s post features the Forever Lovely Bundle which is part of the All My Love Suite on page 4 – 6 of the Occasions Catalogue.  This suite consists of two bundles – the Forever Lovely Bundle featured on page 5 and the Meant to Be Bundle on page 6.  These sets cater for all love related occasions – Valentine’s Day, Weddings, Anniversaries, expressing love and friendship.

Now onto the card

We’ve used the Forever Lovely stamp set and coordinating Lovely Flowers Edgelits dies for this card.  The stamps in this set are Distinktive stamps.  Distinctive stamps lay down the ink at different opacities, giving the finished image more depth and dimension.  The colours are Crumb Cake, Soft Sea Foam, Flirty Flamingo and Lovely Lipstick.

There are four additional products within this suite that coordinate with both bundles – All My Love Designer Series Paper, All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack, Heart Epoxy Droplets and the All My Love Cardstock Pack.  The DSP works well with both stamp sets – one side coordinates with the Forever Lovely stamp set and the other with the Meant to Be set.  Two of the scalloped heart dies from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits also cut out the hearts perfectly – the sheet third in from the left on the top row (see designs below).

If you love this suite here are some options for purchases that will get you to your FREE Sale-A-Bration item:

  • Forever Lovely Bundle – 150580 – $99.75
  • All My Love Cardstock Pack – 148579 – $17.75

or

  • Meant to Be Bundle – 150587 – $111.50

Check out the video below which shares more information around this suite and you can see the individual components that make up this suite.

Needlepoint Nook Suite – OnStage Sample

By | January 10, 2019

Hi there

We are now one week into the new Occasions Catalogue and it’s time to share with you another suite from the catalogue.  As mentioned in my earlier post featuring the Happiness Blooms Suite we got to make four projects at our last OnStage event.  Each project featured a new suite from the catalogue.  The next suite I’m going to share is the Needlepoint Nook Suite on page 38 & 39.  This suite consists of a stamp set and coordinating framelits (which can be purchased as a bundle or separately), DSP, cardstock pack, mini buttons and linen thread – all these items help to create wonderful projects.  For our card we used the stamp set, framelits, DSP and linen thread.

The Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies has 8 ‘cutting’ dies and 4 embossing dies – we used one of these embossing dies on the card above.  The embossing dies add great texture and detail to your projects.  The stamp set – Needle & Thread – coordinates with the Needlepoint Elements Framelits plus two of the images coordinate with punches – our new Butterfly Duet punch (page 35 OC) and the Pretty Label punch (page 211 AC).

Here’s a video that shows you the various components of this suite.

Introducing our new Cling Stamps

By | January 8, 2019

Hi there

You may have noticed in the new Occasions Catalogue that we have introduced Cling Stamps.  This is an exciting change for Stampin’ Up! and you are going to love the new functionality of the stamps.  Cling stamps feature the same quality rubber stamps that you’ve always loved and now they come with highly adhesive image labels.  The benefit is that they will cling like crazy to your clear acrylic blocks so you don’t have to worry about your stamp image shifting or falling off the block.  Cling stamps make stamping easy.

Labelling cling stamps is a slightly different process than you may be used to.  Watch this quick video to see how to assemble and care for your Clings stamps.

Labeling and assembly instructions can also be found on the inside cover of each cling stamp case.

If you need help assembling your new Cling stamps please give me a call and I can help (that is if you live in Auckland).

Until next time …

Happiness Blooms Suite – OnStage sample

By | January 7, 2019

Hi there

Back in November we had our OnStage training event which is put on by Stampin’ Up! for demonstrators.  This is just one of the many perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator – if you would like to learn more about becoming a demonstrator check out my ‘Join my team’ page or contact me directly.  It’s a great day of seeing and playing with new product, learning new techniques and above all catching up with fellow demonstrators.  During the day we got to make four projects with products from the Occasions catalogue.

The first project I’m going to share with you is from the the Happiness Blooms Suite on page 24 – 26 of the Occasions Catalogue.  This suite contains 9 different components – stamp, DSP, Cardstock pack, ribbon, embellishments, embossing folder, a set of punches, Memories & More cards & envelopes and a Memories & More card pack – everything you need to create wonderful coordinating projects.

This card uses the 10.2cm x 15.2cm large Memories & More note cards in Night of Navy.  The stamp set is called Bloom by Bloom and some of the images have been used as a background on the card base as well as the focal point.  Three different DSP designs have been used on the card along with the brightly coloured Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots.  These dots come in a pack of 150.  There are five colours – Call Me Clover, Calypso Coral, Lovely Lipstick, Night of Navy and Pineapple Punch – and you get 10 of each of the colours in three differenent sizes – 4mm, 5mm and 6mm.

The sentiment is from another new set called Itty Bitty Birthdays (page 16) and is a new style of red rubber stamp called ‘cling stamps’.  These really do ‘cling’ to your clear blocks.  I’ll share more about them with you tomorrow.

From 3 January to 31 March is our Sale-A-Bration promotion.  If you’ve never heard of Sale-A-Bration (or need a refresher) this is a great promotion where you receive FREE product for every NZD110 that you spend from any current catalogue.  So if you like the above project from the Happiness Blooms Suite and would like to recreate this project you could purchase the following:

  • Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper – 148795 – $23.00

Share What You Love Dragonfly Closure Card

By | January 1, 2019

Hi there

Happy New Year – I’m looking forward to sharing more creations with you during 2019.  It’s not long till the 2019 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration brochure go live – Thursday 3rd January.  If you would like to receive copies of these please let me know and I can send them to you.

Today’s card is a closure card using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits that I’ve CASED from a card I was given last year.

Here’s how it looks when the card is shut.  The Dragonfly helps to keep the card closed.

As you lift the card front the wings of the Dragonfly slide through the cutout.

And finally when the card is open you get to see the beautiful paper and the Dragonfly ‘in flight’.

To create this card I adhered a strip of the Share What You Love DSP on the front that measures 5cm x 10.5cm and then using the Classic Label punch proceeded to punch out the slot.  Push the card base all the way into the punch – you will need to punch one full length and then a ‘bit more’ to allow the Dragonfly to fit through.  Die cut the detailed Dragonfly from Basic Black and the outline from Vellum Cardstock.  Adhere the two together on the ‘body’ only.  Stamp you sentiment on the front.  I used Picture Perfect Birthday – a fav of mine.

On the inside of the card I adhered another piece of the DSP this time measuring 10.5cm x 14.3cm.  Close the card and then adhere the Dragonfly (body only) through the slot.  I used Snail to adhere my Dragonfly.  Fold the wings up a bit which will help it glide through the slot more easily.  I used the Thick Whisper White Cardstock for my base as it’s a heavier weight and gives the card more strength as we’re only using one layer of cardstock.

Well that’s the first blog post for 2019 completed – check back again to see projects using product from teh new 2019 Occasions Catalogue.

Until then …

So Santa – final Christmas cards for 2018

By | December 24, 2018

Hi there

Well the presents are all wrapped and we’ve done most of the prep for tomorrow so now I can sit down and share with you the last of my Christmas cards.

This first one is what Santa thought he’d be doing in New Zealand on Christmas day but the weather is not really ‘beach weather’ at the moment.

The Buffalo Check big stamp is perfect to create a background.  Our normal card front is 10cm x 14.3cm – to create this one I had to trim it just a fraction so that the stamp covered the whole piece of card stock.  I’ve found using the Stamparatus is the best way to use the big stamp for a couple of reasons – 1) the big stamps are often hard to handle and by using the Stamparatus the plate takes care of that.  2) if your first attempt at stamping doesn’t give the desired look it’s easy to just reink the stamp and stamp again knowing it will be lined up perfectly. 3) it’s easier to get the stamp stamping ‘straight’ on the paper with the help of the Stamparatus rather than hoping you get it right ‘free hand’.  The new grid paper is a great way to check everything is aligned.

Santa has been coloured in with a mix of Watercolour pencils and the help of a Blender Pen.

The second Santa card also has the Buffalo Check stamp for the background.  I’ve used Granny Apple Green for both cards.

I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this Santa – we’ve all been busy in the kitchen whipping up a food storm for Christmas Day.  I think Santa got a bit carried away with the food colouring for his desert!

Well that’s it for Christmas 2018 – I hope you all have a lovely day with family and friends.  Stay safe and dry.

Until next time …

Takeout Treat Christmas Card and Box

By | December 23, 2018

Hi there

I’ve loved using the Takeout Treat Thinlits over the last 5 months.  It’s such a cute box and is the perfect treat size.  Today’s project is one I CASED from our team training back in August – check out the original design here.

I used this as one of my projects for a workshop – I gave the ladies two colour options: Fresh Fig/Lemon Lime Twist or Night of Navy/Pool Party.

Here’s a close up of the cards:

I used the Very Vanilla Notecards & Envelopes as I wanted to use the Very Vanilla Gold Metallic Edged Satin Ribbon for my bow.  We used the Corrugated Embossing Folder and then spritzed it with the Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint.  When you use the Corrugated Embossing Folder remember to cut your card stock a bit wider than you want your finished width.  For this project my Lemon Lime Twist measures 3 1/4″ x 3 5/8″ while the Fresh Fig measures 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″.

The sentiment is from the Takeout Treats stamp set and is stamped in Memento Black then die cut with one of the frames from the Takeout Treat Thinlits.  The sprigs have been punched out of Tranquil Tide or Old Olive card stock with the new Sprig Punch.  With our huge range of Stampin’ Blends colours you can have coloured rhinestones in almost any shade.  Here I’ve used the Bronze or Real Red blends.

I have two more Christmas cards to share with you tomorrow featuring the So Santa stamp set.

Until then …

Night in Bethlehem Window Cards

By | December 22, 2018

Hi there

I’m officially on holiday for the Christmas/New Year break 🙂  I’m looking forward to two weeks off – and no alarm going off at 6am 🙂

Today’s cards carry on with the Night in Bethlehem stamp set and coordinating dies.  In my last post I shared a Z fold card that required cutting two sets of the Bethlehem scene but didn’t use all of one of the scenes.  Well this is what I created with my ‘left over’ Bethlehem.  I had made two of the Z fold cards and had two left over pieces so I created a Circle Window card and an Oval Window card.

Using the Layering Circle/Oval dies I cut the desired size from a piece of Whisper White card stock (10cm x 14.3cm) and added a frame using the next size up of the dies.  The sentiment is stamped in Merry Merlot.  To create my night sky I sponged a piece of Whisper White with Night of Navy then stamped my stars in Crushed Curry before adhering my Bethlehem scene.  I had a bit of a play around to make sure my scene was in the correct position for the cut out circle/oval overlay.

Once the scene has been put together it’s now time to assemble the card.  I found the easiest way was to put adhesive (I used Snail) on the back of the Whisper White around the hole and then position the scene in place.  Adhere the Whisper White card front to the Merry Merlot base, adhere the star which has been die cut from Gold Foil and then add Mary and Joseph off to the side.  On my card insert I stamped the Shepherd in the bottom right hand corner.

Well it’s not long till Christmas – I still have a couple more Christmas cards to share with you so check back again tomorrow.

Until then …

Z Fold – Night in Bethlehem

By | December 18, 2018

Hi there

It’s been a beautiful day here in Auckland – finally feels like summer and so nice having the doors still open at 9:30pm 🙂

I had so much fun creating my Night in Bethlehem eclipse card that I decided to make a second card using the same stamp and dies while I had them out.  Thanks to Pinterest I found a cool Z fold card by Brian King – so I CASED it with a colour change to my new favourite colour – Merry Merlot.

Here’s the card when it’s closed

And then when it’s opened.  The card base measures 10.5cm x 29.6cm – scored at 7.4cm and 14.8cm.  To create the city scenes I die cut two of each of the images – one in Basic Black and the other in Gray Granite and glued the images together lining up the bottom edge.  To assemble the card stamp a piece of Whisper White (10cm x 14.3cm) with the stars in the top third of the card stock and then adhere one of the ‘scenes’ to the card stock.  Stamp another piece of Whisper White (10cm x 7cm) with the stars then adhere the remaining ‘scene’ to the card stock using the base image as a guide for lining up.  Trim the excess ‘scene’ but don’t throw it away – I have a use for it which I’ll share in the next day or so.

I stamped the sentiment to the inside panel which measures 10cm x 7cm in Merry Merlot.  The final touch is adhering Mary and Joseph and the Shepherd to the card.  These have been stamped on scraps then die cut with the coordinating dies.

This is an easy fun fold card to make.

Until next time …

Share What You Love – No Stamping Eclipse Card

By | December 14, 2018

Hi there

Yesterday I shared with you my first eclipse card using the Night in Bethlehem stamp set.  Today I have my second eclipse Card except this time I used the lovely Share What You Love DSP instead of stamping.  It was a super quick card to make and very effective with the paper.

This card was for a friend’s six-year-old daughter so it also required a small 3D box to hold some chocolates.  I used the retired Bakers Box die for this and continued the theme using the Share What You Love DSP.  This DSP is great for boxes as it is a heavier weight paper than our normal DSP.

Even though the paper is heavier than our normal DSP I still adhered it to a piece of Whisper White (10cm x 14.3cm) as I wanted the letters to be strong enough when raised from the card base.  I spaced my letters out across the front then die cut them out.  I ran the plate through the Big Shot a couple of times to make sure I’d really cut through both layers of the front.  I then adhered the main card front to my Blackberry Bliss card base and put the card together as per my instructions from yesterday’s post.

Here are some close ups and side views of the card.

If you look closely to the inside of the card you will see that I added a strip of the DSP along the bottom of the insert – a ‘no stamping’ card completed.

The recipient loved that her card had her name on it – I think this one may even get put in a frame to keep on display 🙂

Well that’s it from me for today – until next time …

Night in Bethlehem Eclipse Card

By | December 13, 2018

Hi there

The year is fast drawing to a close – one more week of work before the holiday starts :).  Yesterday we had our staff Christmas lunch and went to Stonyridge Vineyard on Waiheke Island – it was a great day with beautiful food and great company and the weather even behaved.

A couple of months ago I finally bought the Large Lettters Framelits which meant I could now make Eclipse cards.  There are heaps of designs online using this technique – you can use stamps or our lovely DSP for this technique.  For this card I’ve used the Night in Bethlehem stamp set.

It’s a very effective technique and easy to achieve.  I started by stamping my images on a piece of Whisper White (10cm x 14.3cm).  ‘Bethlehem’ is stamped in Gray Granite (a fav of mine); Joseph, Mary and the shepherd are stamped in Merry Merlot (this has become a fav).  I used my Stamparatus for these three stamps as I taught this card in a recent class and it made it so much easier.  I stamped Joseph, Mary and the shepherd a couple of times as I wanted a really solid image and the Stamparatus is perfect for this.  The stars are stamped in Crushed Curry.

Once the scene has been stamped I die cut the word ‘Noel’ (making sure I kept the centre of the ‘O’).  The knot is tied using a length of the beautiful Merry Merlot & Copper Ribbon from the Holiday Catalogue.  After attaching this I then adhered the Whisper White cardstock to my Merry Merlot card base.

The letters are raised using lengths of the Foam Adhesive Strips.  Once the foam is adhered carefully slot the letters on top of the gap where they were cut from (just like a jigsaw).  The centre of the ‘O’ is adhered directly onto the card base – I used Snail.  And voila your card is complete.

Check back tomorrow for another card using this technique but done with DSP.

Until then …
